Bereaved Beduin father: 'Everyone should join IDF'
By JPOST.COM STAFF
"My son loved the army and loved what he did in the army," said Yosef Jaja, the father of Sgt. Sayid Jaja, 19, who was killed Sunday evening in the deadly attack on an IDF position near the Rafah crossing.
Four other soldiers, all from the Beduin Desert Battalion, were killed in the attack.
"Sayid believed that if we live in this country we should both give to it and receive from it. That's what all of my children believe in," Jaja told Israel Radio Monday morning, adding that he has one other son serving in the Beduin Desert Battalion and a third son serving as a border policeman.
Jaja, from the northern town of Arara, said that his sons were of the first from their hometown to join the army. "It is an unprecedented step," he said. "There is opposition from the local community, especially from the religious people. There were also threats, and letters.
"But this is our country; all youngsters should go join the army," he said.
Jaja said he heard of the attack on the news. "I knew my son was situated in that position. I knew [what happened to him] before anyone came and told me.
Life is from Allah [God]," the bereaved father concluded.
Arab does not equal terrorist, Muslim does not equal terrorist, Arab doesn't even always equal Muslim.
True, but terrorist almost always equals Muslim.
However a terrorist is always equal to a muslim...
I have full respect to the Bedouins community and their great help for the IDF, especially as navigators and chasers, as they are experts at the desert life.
Really? Are ETA (Basque separatist terrorists in Spain) Muslim? I think not. How about the radical wing of the IRA who conducted terrorist attacks in Northern Ireland for decades? Yes, I know they have made peace now. Still, they weren't Muslim so far as I can tell.
Need I go on?
Absolutely. Many Bedouins have done great service and many have given their lives. The same can be said for the Druze community as well.
Indeed, the Druze community, most of it which is located at the Galilee, serve the IDF and they deserve a great respect also same as the Bedouins.
Wow! Impressive profile page!
Thanks!
True, but terrorist almost always equals Muslim.
Bump and book mark
Well, they trained together with Muslim terrorists in North Africa and there were plenty of ties between the organizations. Make of it what you will.
In support of your statement, my first step father was an Arab Lebanese Christian, who marrried my mother, a Jewish woman. He, like many Christian Arabs, lost almost everything to the Arab Muslims during the civil war in the early 80s.
Anyhow, my heart goes out to this man whose son was murdered by yet one more Palestinian Arab terrorist.
