WASHINGTON - Charles Barkley stopped by the Supreme Court last week to visit an old friend, Justice Clarence Thomas.
Celebrities often are spotted in the court, ranging from the justices themselves to big-name lawyers and TV journalists. But none got the rock-star treatment accorded Barkley.
The arrival of the former NBA star broke the solemn atmosphere of the cafeteria, where usually subdued workers snapped to attention. Barkley was sprawled at a table a few feet from the cafeteria checkout for a half-hour or so while word spread through the building and the crowd of admirers grew. He posed for pictures and signed autographs before heading upstairs to Thomas' office. Barkley and Thomas share a passion for basketball.
There is a basketball court in a secluded area on the Supreme Court building's top floor but Thomas has not been a regular player since tearing his Achilles tendon during a game on the court.

I can't wait for Barkley to run for office.
Wellllll.....I'm not so sure about that--he's rather liberal, I can tell by listening to his opinions recently when watching some games. In a way, it would be cool for him to run for Alabama governor & win. I love the fact that he isn't too politically correct, & that may hurt him some. Will he be able to "tone it down"?
BArkleys passion these days in golf. His swing is even goofier than mine.
