b) the oriental wise men (astrologers) who, having discovered by the rising of a remarkable star that the Messiah had just been born, came to Jerusalem to worship him

Jeremiah 10
2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

We're not supposed to be concerned with 'signs' of heaven.

Deuteronomy 18
9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

Isaiah 2
6 Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

Yahweh forbid the interpretation of signs for this sort of predictive purpose. It would have been divination to interpret the appearance of stars as omens of extraordinary events, births of royalty, or even messiahs. Yet, we are to do that which Yahweh/G-d forbids???

All it says is they followed HIS STAR, not that they were astrologers.

(Mat 2:1 KJV) Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

(Mat 2:2 KJV) Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

(Mat 2:3 KJV) When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

(Mat 2:4 KJV) And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

(Mat 2:5 KJV) And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,

(Mat 2:6 KJV) And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

(Mat 2:7 KJV) Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

(Mat 2:8 KJV) And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

(Mat 2:9 KJV) When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

(Mat 2:10 KJV) When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

(Mat 2:11 KJV) And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

So, How many men? Matthew doesn't tell us. Nor does it call them astrologers, only that they saw the Bethlehem Star.

It only calls the men WISE MEN, not astrologers.

However, the Bethlehem star was a Miracle star, for it lead them to the Manger. There is NO NATURAL star which could do such a thing, nor is there a NATURAL conjunction of planets which could do such a thing.
