actually, many were Unitarians (eg T Jefferson)and Deists (whatever that is). I do not think many of the constitution writers were Evangelicals actually.

Unitarians did not exist did they? I thought that "chuch" came to exist as a result of the homosexual movement of the last 4 decades.

or is it a different unitarian.

History Channel did a special on Ben Franklin and that made it fairly clear that all the founding fathers were very Christian and even attending certain churches to be politic even if it was outside their denomination.

Jefferson attended an Episcopalian church and Christ Church.
The following are from a history book called "America's God and Country" by W. Federer, 1994.

        "While in Philedelphia, Thomas Jefferson attended Christ Church."

        "In Virginia Jefferson attended Bruton Parish Church (Episcopalian) in Williamsburg."
