I think conservatives would vote for Guiliani before Hagel in a GOP primary.
I know I would. I would even give Guiliani a chance to pull a Kerry and change his position on some issues.
I wouldn't.
Look, I like Rudy as a person. I think he did an amazing job during 911 and showed great leadership, securing his place as a 21st century American hero. And I think that his stumping for Bush helped Bush quite a lot last year, and he deserves the conservatives gratitude.
But I would not vote for a pro-choice, pro-gun control candidate for president, regardless. And I doubt I'm alone.
Hagel criticizes Bush far too much for my liking and I will not vote for him in the primary (hoping Santorum runs, or any true conservative), but I would vote for him in the general election, because he does support key republican issues.
