It would be a first if the Rev did indeed 'excommunicate' a Baptist. Members can be disinvited to belong to the congregation but that doesn't make one under some sort of interdict from going off to another church and moving your letter of membership. The press is not only hostile to religion but completely ignorant of it as well.

That is one problem with Baptist independence, which is why I support the Presbyterian way, which is the middle of the road (one reason why the American Revolution was called the Presbyterian rebellion in England).

This pastor is going too far in any case.

By Presbyterian I mean a system of checks/balances etc...congregations have power, but other governing bodies do as well.
