Actually it isn't the same thing. It would be more difficult to cut and style coarse, wiry hair than straighter, finer hair. I have long, thick hair, kind of coarse in texture. I get charged more for a hair cut at the beauty salon than a woman with short hair. It's more work to cut and style my hair than to do someone's shorter hair.
I also have long, coarse, thick hair (I'm a white chick) - I am routinely charged $10 - $15 more than the usual cost of a cut, and am usually charged double for things like highlighting and coloring, because it takes twice the product and time for the colorist.
It's not unfair - it's just sensible. Dillard's will probably pay her off, though, and raise prices for everyone.
Same here. It has to do with the time it takes to style than color of skin. I recommend she takes her business elsewhere if she doesn't like the way Dillard's conducts itself.
same here... even when my hair is short i get charged more because i have so much of it... not that it's super thick or anything... i just have a lot of it... i've been told by every hairstylist i've ever gone to, "you have a lot of hair." i tend to pay more... (and i sure paid a lot more whenever i got my hair permed.)
