My mutt Henry, a chocolate field lab needs grooming about this time of year, otherwise I spend June and July vacuuming.
I tie him to my truck bumper and rake him over... He looses about a pound of fur, and is happy for a week after.
Makes him pretty to.

Yes to OE Sheepdogs costing more than Labs. And yes to Labs getting groomed, since baths and nail trims are part of grooming.
