Try to identify Mercury. It's a naked eye challenge.

Still six weeks from the first hint of twilight.

I'm no astronomer, but I've never seen red X's in the sky before :P

Would love to try but the weather here is bad bad. We are having problems with cumulatively local observationally undesirable displays.
Hopefully it will be clear tomorrow.

I wouldn't know what time it is without the stock market opening and closing, nor what day it is. Sure can't tell by the neighbors' comings and goings either. Everybody seems to be up all the time.

LOL! That's got to drive you insane, but I'm sure when it is dark, you are equally insane... LOL! Well, at least you are in balance.

When the sun comes back in March and the temperature rises above 20 below and you can actually feel the heat of the sun on your nose, a feeling of general optimism for the future of the world overcomes you even though the car won't start.

I managed to glimpse Mercury with the naked eye Wednesday evening, but overlooked Saturn. Saturn is currently a few tenths of a magnitude fainter than Mercury.
It is mostly cloudy here this evening. Sigh.

There's a few more nice nights to observe Mercury. Some people go through their whole lives and not observe Mercury. Good luck to you. Also try to see the comet near Spica in the constellation Virgo. You;'ll need binoculars, tho.
To: ngc6656
Yeah, Saturn is less bright than Mercury. Last night my daughter could see Venus and Mercury but not Saturn. By the way, love your handle. For the rest of the FReepers on this thread, here's a photo of ngc6656
And a nice catalogue HERE.
