Major Prophecies in Daniel 2 and 7 indicate that the Holy Roman Empire will be the dominant force in the world when our Lord returns. Twenty five hundred years ago Daniel saw the Roman Empire revived from the dead in the end times. Those prophecies are today being fulfilled in Europe.
I have often spoken about the rebirth of the Roman Empire in the form of The European Union, the superstate of 25 nations that has replaced most of the individual countries of Europe, a country with its own flag and parliament. Then, in September, came quite a shock: one of those history being created before your eyes moments. The EU, at an astonishing art exhibition sketching the future of the organisation, described itself under the heading Roman Empire Returns.
According to this EU exhibition, staged in a brightly coloured circus tent outside the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium core of the EU, the EU will be renamed “The Union” once it grows to 50 states over the next three decades. The United Nations headquarters will be moved to Gibraltar, a tiny British enclave off the coast of Spain which commands the entrance to the Mediteranean Sea, a very strategic site. This will be as “The EU defends the international order against the American onslaught.”

The Holy Roman Empire wasn't holy, Roman, or an empire.
Looks like the "new" Holy Roman Empire ain't holy; ain't Roman; and ain't an empire what with France's and The Netherlands rejection of the constitution. Even the real Roman descendants, the Italians, are making noise about ditching the Euro.

One must keep the thought that this "anti-christ" person will come one the scene at a time when there is a real need for peace. People will be desire peace and the person who can deliver will be held in very high regard. A thought has always been how this person will be able to work with the Jews. He will abolish the sacrifice, but he will also have been recognized by those very same Jews as a world leader that had been helpful in the Mid-East peace process.
The main thing about all the looking for this anti-christ--if you keep your eye on the real thing, meaning Jesus, then when the fake comes along, you will recognize him immediately.
I agree....I think we will know him for what he is....I have a feeling the one who lives in us will give us a soft whisper in our hearts to discern the truth...
I pray we are not blinded by petty problems to see it if it happens in our time...

No, it won't be a "Holy" Roman Empire but an empire, nevertheless.
I watched Franklin (no relation to Frankin) being interviewed, wherein he said that to obtain a driver's license anywhere in Europe, it must have the EU logo in place of a national flag. Of course, they have bigger fish to fry in the future.
I believe we must be living with our eyes toward heaven, but occupying til he comes--the fields are white unto harvest and we must work and pray while the time is now.
We need to recognize our times as Jesus told us to, but we need not fear those times.

Given that the word anit-christ means 'instead of Christ', and Christ said let no man deceive you, Peter says that Christ's return will be like a thief in the night, most likely because most everybody will think the first supernatural being arriving upon this earth is the real Christ.
We are told who the play actor is, who tempted Christ and what did he offer Christ????
When you use the words, "instead of Christ", is this a greek translating of anti?

I'm studying this right now and it actually was to a large extent all of those things after Christ died. Constantine saw to that. I am absolutely floored at the role Christianity played at preserving knowledge, culture, and human life through the 'dark' ages.
What is so striking is how divorced America and Europe has become from Christianity culturally and politically.
