Keep in mind the reference to Assyrian may be in reference to his ethnic background in which a Kurdish politician could arise in any of the Western Democracies. Consider how many European countries have large Muslim populations including Kurds. Also Turkey is a possible EU member and wants to join. Kurdish lands are in Iraq, Iran and you guessed it Turkey. I hope people keep this in mind when the blindly support our policy in Iraq and our support for Turkey's membership in the EU.

Agreed. The term "end times" had been turned into a cliche - long before we were born. Perhaps because many think that the resurrection of the nation of Israel must be the beginning of the "end times"?... or perhaps they think that the period of time after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, until His return constituted the "end time", meaning the last dispensation of age prior to Jesus' returning?

Personally, I firmly do not believe we are in the "end times" (i.e. timeperiod between the antichrist's attack to overtake Israel and the return of Jesus). I would tend to say we may be in the "beginning of sorrows" timeperiod. (Matt24:3-8). Either way, in the end, GOD wins!

Just a point to consider: The Roman empire had both eastern and western legs per the map. In our lifetimes, the major emphasis of prophetical teaching and focus on the "revived Roman empire" has been on the western leg, but many of the middle-eastern Arab nations and North Africa made up the eastern leg of the Roman empire.

Given the current violent state of daily events with everything going on today, I see a relative ineffective attempt by the EU (Roman western leg) to become a global power, vs. the global threat caused by the constant attempt of the Mideast nations to annihilate Israel.

I would submit that it warrants serious consideration that the revived Roman empire 10 nation confederacy that attacks and overcomes Israel for 3.5 years, and from hence the antichrist comes, may be a 10 nation confederacy of Mideast and North African Islamic nations (i.e. Roman empire eastern leg). I just can't see western Europe becoming anything important on today's prophetic time line. Just MHO that's all.
