Global warming threatens California's water supply, public health, agriculture, coastlines and forests - our entire economy and way of life," Schwarzenegger wrote.

"We have no choice but to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions."

Good grief! Someone really needs to educate him on this.

well, if arnie believes that, he should get rid of his half-dozen hummers.

i'm not convinced that "global warming" is of human origin.

humans are not as important in the big picture as some think we are.

"The debate is over," he wrote in Britain's Independent on Sunday newspaper.

"That's a little odd, isn't it old chap? Why would ahnold be writing in one of our rags? What I mean to say is, why would a bloke from across the pond and then across the continent want to write such gibberish here?"

Schwarzenegger urges governments to act on climate change

Hmmm, there's something misleading about that headline...

Schwarzenegger urges governments to pay off his political backers

There, that's more like it.

I'm getting even more motivated to see this guy removed as Governor. He's going completely out of his danged gourd!!!

Even Gray Davis wasn't even quite this stupid, although he was about as stupid as they come!

It seems we've jumped out of the frying pan... right into the fire!!! Of course that's not what us mainstream conservatives had in mind when we started the Great Historic California Recall Election, now was it? I didn't think so!!!

"The debate is over," he wrote in Britain's Independent on Sunday newspaper

Damn it, I hate when people say things like this. Is the debate over? Well, that depends on what is meant by "the debate". There are several debatable issues, among them:

Of these, it can truly only be said "the debate is over" about the first one. Yes, the climate is changing, just as the climate has always changed. The climate today is not the same as the climate 100 years ago... and the climate 100 years ago was not the same as the climate 200 years ago, and neither was the same as the climate 300 years ago, and none of them bear much resemblance to the climate 20,000 years ago, which in turn was very different from the climate 1,000,000 years ago.

It is far from proven that the changing climate is due to human activity. It is far from proven that even if it is, the climate is changing in a harmful way. It can even be argued that the current trend in climate change may prove beneficial to humankind. None of these issues is beyond debate, and anyone who asserts "the debate is over" is merely trying to shut down debate and declare himself the winner.

The funny thing in 50 years when the global average temperature has only risen a 1/2 of a degree, the ecohead tree hungers will say that they stop global warming. All that hard work in 2005 to 2015 has paid off.

Or, will they say there is more work to do to stop global cooling?

I'm sorry I wandered in this thread. It's turned into another "total recall" slashing thread within FR.

1. I have no idea WHY the governor would publish in a British newspaper.
2. SMOGII, enacted by Davis and his cronies in the legislature is designed, actually, to get older vehicles OFF the road, at any rate.
3. While there is a mass migration out of CA; population in CA, nonetheless has been INCREASING. That one is not hard to figure out. Which also means those newly entering to reside in CA may be in the market for purchasing older cars which will then be caught via SMOGII leviathon.
4. With the population increase, it is more than logical to assume that more energy is being used for sustainability which then, of course, radiates a heat "plus". Calling it global warming is just using PC coinage.
5. With polls showing the Governor's ratings going down, Dems are posing WHOM for the next Governor? I'm curious as to what exactly Governor Arnold is "leaving" to the next Democrat Governor to deal with.

I've known of Tom for many years -- he's one of the best! However, Arnold won.

I'll be brave here: Why is it that some FRpers are coming across like Lib-Losers in need of Pest Therapy? Go on, throw your mud at me. Tom didn't win the office as much as many of we wished. Now, where do we all go from here?

Europe is very interested in writings about so-called "global warming" and why? They too are being heavily hit by primarily illegal immigration and it is costing these countries mega bucks at every bureacratic level imaginable.

To my eye, then, the arguments rests at the level of halting illegal immigration and the need to track the terrorist network.

Lastly, do any of you think Tom McClintock will plan another run for Governor soon?

He believes that developing cutting-edge environmental technologies such as hydrogen fuel cells will conserve energy, curb pollution, protect natural resources - and be good for business.

He is misinformed.

Maybe he ought to read up on this stuff before shooting off his mouth.

Well Arnie, if you don't like global warming just wait around awhile and you will find that you really dislike global cooling. But then again, if you don't like global cooling you can just wait around a little longer and you can have global warming again.

What a moron. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, that buys into this nonsense shouldn't be allowed to breathe the same air as sane people.

Have any of these "global warming" idiots ever bother to read elementary science and astronomy? The Earth (this small planet in a small solar system in a larger galaxy in an infinite, so far, universe) orbits the Sun and spins on it's axis rotating appox. once in every 24 hour period of sun up to sun down. It also tilts back and forth, back and forth creating "equinox" and thus climate change.

Sometimes this tilting every quarter year is more than in other times. So when it's summer in the northern hemisphere the Earth is titled towards the Sun so the top half of the planet gets maximum exposure to the radiation known as light and thus heat while actually being at it's farthest point away in it's elliptical orbit (apogee).

Now, ignoring the gazillion other factors that effect this radiation as it permeates towards the surface, this change it tilt over time can produce warmer summer and winter weather than "normal". The reverse is true during periods of cooling and even ice ages.

When I was growing up in elementary school in the 1960's the "conventional wisdom" was global cooling and the next ice age.

I doubt science, and the tilt of the planet, changed that drastically in 40 years.

And I think anyone that can buy into that kind of massive change in that short time on a planet billions of years old is a gullible fool. And when they are politicians trying to tax us for their foolishness they are evil and should be stopped.

Schwarzenegger urges governments to act on climate change

Act how? By installing giant air-conditioners? Humans have no effect on the warming and cooling trends of the Earth. We are currently in a warming phase which has been going on since the last ice age, thousands of years before the invention of the combustion engine. To say we are at all-time high temperatures due to man-made "global warming" is like me saying that the Yahoo's stock is at all-time high based on the following chart...

While ignoring THIS chart...

Similarly, pseudo-scientists show us charts like THIS to "prove" global warming...

When in fact the temperatures now are a return to normal temperatures which existed during Medieval times, after a period of 500 years during which the Northern climates experienced unusually cold temperatures...

And for greater perspective...
