His answer is fine. It is something that we would have gotten from Rehnquist.

Note that this article fails to select some interesting quotes he also said in the same statements that say the juciciary must be restrained etc.

Agreed. All judges talk about respecting precedent, and they should. This doesn't mean they slavishly follow all precedent. As Roberts said in the answer, "Precedent plays an important role." Was he supposed to say "I don't give a flip about precedent?"
