is an older article, and I searched the title....
I'd imagine the technogeniuses we got around here already know this....the article, though somewhat long, speculates on the "CNN effect", which is interesting and frightening at the same time.

To a certain degree, TV news has been manipulating reality for audiences for years by selecting which clips to show, which camera angles to shoot, and when to start and stop the video. The Rodney King beating left a different impression with people who saw the whole clip vs. those who saw only a small part of it. At right-wing protests, they purposely filming the looneys (I've watched them do this) while at left-wing protests they avoid filming the looneys (and given their numbers, they must put a lot of effort into it) to give the impressoin that right-wing protesters are looneys and the left-wing protesters are normal people (in my experience at actual protests and marches, the opposite is true). And so on.
