(John) Campbell attempts to expel Republicans from GOP for supporting Jim Gilchrist
Jim Gilchrist for Congress ^ | September 20, 2005 | Jim Gilchrist press release

Posted on 09/20/2005 6:37:39 PM PDT by EternalVigilance

ANAHEIM, CA — Attendees of the state convention of the California GOP were shocked and dismayed to learn that operatives of candidate John Campbell had attempted to move a resolution which threatened with “expulsion from the California Republican Party” any member of the state GOP who “supports, advocates, or assists in any way” the campaign of Congressional candidate “Minuteman” Jim Gilchrist.

Paul Paule, who works closely with advisors of the Campbell campaign, introduced a draft resolution to the Rules Committee against Gilchrist which would have effectually made the State Chairman of the California Republican Party a “Grand Inquisitor” of political conformity.

Gilchrist responded, “My candidacy clearly scares the career politicians because the voters are demanding action to solve our border crisis, and to end the lawlessness of illegal immigration. Unfortunately, establishment elements of the Republican Party have become increasingly hostile to those of us who see illegal immigration as a serious problem – despite the fact that those in the GOP concerned with border security and illegal immigration are polling at over 80%. Some in the Republican Party leadership are more concerned with keeping out conservatives determined to see law enforcement on these critical issues than keeping out illegal aliens themselves – and that is a recipe for electoral disaster.”

During the weekend-long gathering of the Republican Party in Anaheim, Jim Gilchrist, 48th District Congressional Candidate and Minuteman Founder, was warmly welcomed by Republican delegates, and embraced enthusiastically by hundreds of conservative activists. Mr. Gilchrist was repeatedly commended for his patriotism and dedication to America for founding the Minuteman border watch movement. He was greatly encouraged in his campaign efforts to hold the Republican Party accountable to its grassroots -- and its Reagan Platform -- on national security, national sovereignty, and immigration law enforcement.

On Saturday Gilchrist spoke to, among other gatherings, the Republican Hispanic Caucus, the Republican Lawyers Association, and the College Republicans to address border crisis issues and the need for new leadership – and enjoyed a universally favorable response to his appearances. Later he addressed a Minuteman Project Reception, attended by well over 200 supporters of the civilian border watch movement. Jim Gilchrist let Republican rank-and-file know, “If you want to send a message about illegal immigration you don't do it by voting for John Campbell, you do it by voting to put Jim Gilchrist in Congress.”

Rats who masquerade as Republicans to undermine conservatism and the Republican party

Ironic... Those of us who dare to utter criticism of Bush and the open borders agenda and attack big government "conservatism" get the same label put on us...

This is alarming, and disgusting. Illegal immigration isn't a serious problem. It's an all encompassing crisis that is now affecting everyone, in every state in the union. And gets worse by the month.

Well my thesis, is that the central committee does nothing of any significance

Thesis is a "I suspect" therefore no facts.
The CC chooses which candidate will be forwarded and financed via GOP general funds for the next election.

Yes. Good people, but not enough, and not organizationally disciplined enough. Too many Bill Frists.

Washington is full of John Campbells

Bottom line: Campbell is a decent and good man. But that's all he is. Dreier and Cox started out the same way, I'm sure. Now look at them, Cox is a slick talking, Washington-wise manifestation of obfuscation, and Dreier is a blatant, lying turncoat.

Give Campbell 20 years in Washington, he'd end up the same way.

The one thing Gilchrist is known for is the one thing we know he won't betray us on. And that's good enough for me.

They don't finance primary candidates, and I suspect have no money to finance general election candidates. You don't think local central committees have any significant money to funnel money here and there within the localities do you?

Let me state it again. Republican central committees are toothless irrelevancies in California, totally.

Republican revolts helped both Carter and Clinton get in, so lets all revolt and help Hillary.

The pinnacle of political arrogance.

The CA GOP sucks thats why. Props to Gilcrest and any other brave individuals that run on their beliefs and not their contributors beliefs.

As for HH, he is soft on immigration, so I don't think it will come up, unless it becomes a huge issue.

Hewitt is an open-borders RNC stooge. He'll give Campbell a pass and isn't about to give Gilchrist any publicity by mentioning the controversy.

Republican revolts helped both Carter and Clinton get in, so lets all revolt and help Hillary.

So, if Jim Gilchrist wins one California congressional seat, Hillary will become queen of the universe. You betcha...

Gilchrist is trying to wink-and-nod that he's a Republican, when he isn't.

He hasn't, of course, but that is the expected smear from the RNC crowd, for whom winning is more important than honesty.

POLITICAL AFFILIATION:
Hybrid -- supports Constitution (Independent) Party and Republican Party candidates; occasionally even supports a principled rogue Democrat -- who put love of country and fidelity to duty above mere partisan advantage.

Gilchrist has been very open about running as an American Independent. Terry Anderson had Gilchrist on before he announced that he would run, and assumed Gilchrist would run as a Republican. Gilchrist corrected Terry about his party affliation, and explained why it would be better for him to run AIP. He hasn't hidden this. BHAPH is just engaging in the Big Lie technique.

It's enough for me that Club for Growth picked Campbell ... they dont pick non-conservatives, *ever*.

Flat out untrue. I have ran several congressional races where theClub sold out the real conservative for the "winner" to help thier numbers nationally. The Club is as compromised as any of the rest of the inside beltway types who need to keep the money flowing to keep their cushy jobs. And I am not talking about indys here. I am saying that GOP vs GOP primaries where the candidates are clearly known as right and 'center', the Club does not always back the right man, if the center guy is 'pretty good' and 'going to win'. They are hedging on this one and I hope they get burned and exposed. Either way, they will get exposed if Campbell wins. He is not conservative and is playing lip service with his johnny come lately to the imimmigration issue.
