Hours before New Orleans Police Superintendent Eddie Compass announced his resignation, Tony relayed some hot information he had heard from his Capitol Hill sources. It regarded an FBI investigation currently under way.

You can go to the source above and listen to that segment of his radio show.

Ha! I think the New Media [the one that counts] is fed up with excuses for the NOLA government.

"Ordinary Americans are getting pretty fed up with it, too. There is just too much basis for comparison of effective and ineffective administrators.

What about those out-of-state fire fighters who went down to help? First they had to get 'sexual harassment' training before doing any rescue work, and then they were sent off to hand out flyers.

Doctors were not given waivers to practice in NO.
The USNS Comfort was apparently not certified to accept American patients needing medical care in MS.

The absurdity of rules and regs, thanks to lawyers, should be part of the unfolding story, after everyone has caught their breath.

And why didn't she call the Feds when she discovered that information?
The thing is, they all knew about it, and if they didn't get their fair share, they will be the first ones coming out of the woodwork pointing fingers.

On another note, call all of your Congressional Representatives and tell them NO for REBUILDING, YES for Clean-up, but nothing more.

That's at least a start.

Unnamed source but still interesting

QUESTIONS SURFACE IN WAKE OF COMPASS' RESIGNATION

SEPTEMBER 28, 2005

Eddie Compass has resigned as the New Orleans Police chief, the Associated Press Reports.

On the heels of N.O. police chief Eddie Compass' resignation, allegations are emerging. Fox News' Tony Snow has said that of the 1700 police working for New Orleans, maybe only 1000 really exist.

Rogers asked someone in the know, who agreed with Snow's statements.

"It's pretty much always been known, but never openly acknowledged, that NOPD's actual numbers were far below the "official" figure of 1500 - 1700," said the source.

"To get that number over 1500, and thus qualify for federal funding, Compass and his predecessors counted reservists and certain retirees as active duty officers. The REAL number is, and has been for some time, a lot closer to 1000."

Some time ago, the Feds were considering taking over the NOPD. Allegedly, that's when the "cooking of the books" on numbers of cops started in earnest, because one of the feds' complaints was the low number of officers, Rogers is told.

Some suspect that this should be the death knell for the" residency rule," which requires NOPD officers to live in New Orleans.

You know, dead corpses will float after a flood. The skeletons have arisen.

####

On the flip side of your comment, those 10,000 bodies that have not arisen were on the voters' lists in name only. Nagin was forgetting that every non-survivor would be found when he made that prediction.

What's that? Corruption in New Orleans? You're kidding!

Honestly, this story does not surprise me at all.

Very true, but what happens when that cop files his tax return and the IRS says "hey, you forgot about the money worked here" and sends them a bill for taxes owed.

This begs an important question.

If the police force had a strength of 1700, yet only 1,000 suited up for duty, THEN wouldn't those 1,000 police know that there was a monumental scam taking place?

Does this not potentially imply at least a tacit participation by most of the force?

I would doubt very much this type of government corruption is just limited to and only isolated in New Orleans. I'd like to see a completely independent group of people/investigators audit all government. Local, states, feds, everyone. The results would probably be alarming.

This is just another reason to question government, at every level, their every move.

You might want to look for a documentary Bill Kurtis(yes, he's a gun grabber, but otherwise he does a good job) did about 1-2 years ago on NOPD. If I recall it was pretty scathing and did not spare anybody. I'm still looking for it and if I find it I will Freepmail you with an air date(ain't Tivo great!).

"Sure you can."

LOL!What you did! You thought I wrote that comment: "You can't make a SSN vanish".

It should have been obvious, especially if you have been reading the thread, that it did not come from me.

OBTW; the one in italics above is one of yours.

It appears phantom payroll may be a common problem. Someone was discussing yesterday the various ways to nail the problem. She worked at a hospital that had the problem. I suspect it is all over our government.

Blanco refused to discuss Brown's allegations today under oath.

Police were paid like $300 a week. That means they were expected to make most of their living elsewhere. What does that tell you? You can only make so much money moonlighting. You gotta sleep sometime.

Don't forget all the SSN's available in cemetaries. Taking the SSN# from a dead guy approx. your age (or acquiring one for a child that died at birth) is a old identity trick for criminals, Or Demorat politicans(but then again I'm being redundant, LOL!)

Did you notice her comments yesterday was that he was "out of touch with truth or reality" and that she was "shocked" that he would say something like that? And that Nagin said it was "Unbelievable" that he would make charges like that? Neither of them denied the charges. That is always a red flag. It's like when people call Mohammed a killer and Child Predator. They usually get furious at the insult, but don't deny the charge.

That makes no sense.
Since when is it illegal for a white man named Blanco to marry a black woman?

What relation is Elodia Blanco to Kathleen Babineux Blanco - does anybody know?

I don't think they are related:
