Ex-FBI Chief Puts Clinton Critique in Print Freeh's Book and Interview Air Harsh Statements; Some Call It Fiction
By Howard Kurtz Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, October 7, 2005; A02
Former FBI director Louis J. Freeh has denounced Bill Clinton over the scandals that marred his presidency and for his record on terrorism, saying the level of distrust was so great that he stayed in his post so Clinton could not appoint his successor.
In a forthcoming book and "60 Minutes" interview, Freeh, whose strained relations with Clinton were no secret, says he was so determined to distance himself from Clinton that he sent back a White House pass so that all his visits would be deemed official. This, he said, antagonized Clinton.
In an interview with CBS's Mike Wallace to be broadcast Sunday, Freeh says: "The problem was with Bill Clinton -- the scandals and the rumored scandals, the incubating ones and the dying ones never ended. Whatever moral compass the president was consulting was leading him in the wrong direction. His closets were full of skeletons just waiting to burst out." Freeh cited investigations involving Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky, Paula Jones and Gennifer Flowers.
Clinton spokesman Jay Carson said last night: "This is clearly a total work of fiction by a man who's desperate to clear his name and sell books, and it's unfortunate he'd stoop to this level in his attempt to rewrite history." He noted Freeh contributed nearly $20,000 to Republicans, including President Bush, in the last campaign.

Hmmm. Who to believe? The Director of the FBI? Or the Chicom-in-Chief?
Decisions, Decisions.
Guess I'll have to go with the Director instead of the Fornicator-in-Chief.

Clinton spokesman Jay Carson said last night: "This is clearly a total work of fiction by a man who's desperate to clear his name and sell books, and it's unfortunate he'd stoop to this level in his attempt to rewrite history." Clinton spokesmen = People of the Lie
Always amazes me how lying comes so easy to some people. I suppose someone like Carson is convinced that the "end" he has bought into justifies the means of lying.

And because of the incompetence of this clown and others, we were attacked in 2001...
He should give all the proceeds from his book to the families of those who died in the 2001 terrorists attacks!
The FBI went to hell in a hand-basket while this clown was Director. What a putz!

This is pretty scathing for the Washington ComPost. It puts a lot of clinton dirt out into the open where readers can see it, with a minimum of spin and coverup.
It must be an off day for them.

"This is clearly a total work of fiction by a man who's desperate to clear his name and sell books, and it's unfortunate he'd stoop to this level in his attempt to rewrite history." History shows that Clinton was impeached for lying and the subject of many scandals including rape.
Sounds like Carson is desperate to rewrite history in order to clear Clinton's name.

What kind of pathetic WHORE could still work for BIll Clinton, and how does Carson live with himself when he immediately launches into a transparent smear campaign? I sure hope Freeh has prepared the ground well with allies and evidence, because he is now in a political WAR and the Clintonistas will go all-out to try to smear him. I would think Freeh must be pretty savvy about what he's about to undergo, but he's never in his life walked the coals of fire that he's stepped into now.

"The Clinton camp says "60 Minutes" would not accept any surrogate to rebut Freeh on camera once the former president declined to be interviewed"
That is GOOD for 60 Minutes! Maybe that's a point we can all push with media outlets, NO SURROGATES! Demand that they invite Bill Clinton for no-holds-barred interviews about Freeh's book, and if/when Bill Clinton refuses, decline all surrogate attack-dogs ala Paul Begala who will do nothing but attack the messenger.

You are tragically correct. The responsibility to defend America against terrorist acts here at home rests with the FBI. All the commissions, governors, bureaucrats, elected liars and even the President can deny it, but the truth is that the FBI failed.
It failed because it had been castrated and demoralized by Waco, Ruby Ridge, and the Clinton security issues.

Not as big a "putz" as William Jefferson Clinton!! The way Clinton marginalized, and mal-utilized, our "intelligence agencies", its a tribute to Louie that the FBI survived at all!!!!

The Clinonistas should be wary of calling Freeh a liar, he may well have proof expecting such. FOIA should make available much, including when the Sink Master got the Benjamins from the dear Crown Prince.

and I thought Freeh was a Clintonista......guess I was wrongFreeh had an excellent reputation when he was tapped for Director.
From another article today: Freeh says he was determined to stay on as FBI director until President Clinton left office so that Clinton could not appoint his successor.
This suggests to me that Freeh may have made certain unpalatable accomodations to Clinton's political demands in order not to give Clinton an excuse for firing him. I would like to believe Freeh will explain all in the book, such as some of the inexplicable actions by the Bureau in the Foster investigation, but I'm not holding my breath.
