CHICAGO - Patrick J. Fitzgerald's final witness was behind bars, refusing to testify, and no one was budging. Hunting for room to maneuver, the special counsel talked with one side, then the other. He drafted a letter that nudged the witness and needled I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the vice president's chief of staff. Three days later, Libby put fingers to keyboard and told New York Times reporter Judith Miller that she was freed from her promise to protect his identity. He praised her mightily and urged her to "come back to work -- and life."

"I'm beginning to think the WH leaked that Rove and Libby might be indicted just to see the left go crazy when they weren't."
Wouldn't be the first time they Rope a Doped the press.
It looks like Judith Miller is a bit of a head case. And that has become clear now that she is no longer just a reporter, but is an object in the story. The way Miller is unravelling sujects to me the possibility that reporters, not politicians, may be the ones who are indicted in this matter. We shall all know, shortly.

"I find this very distasteful and very Liberal & Democratic."
I on the other hand view this as the RNC waking up and smelling the coffee. Hope it's not to late.
Obvious media BiaS!
If the suggested indictments are brought then someone in the GJ or Fitzgerald's office is giving the press inside information. We will see. I wish I could be optimistic but I'm not. I don't trust Fitzgerald or any other Democrat to be anything else than what they are......
Apparently Hannity is leery of this guy. He was appointed by his long time buddy Comfy, who did the job on Martha Stewart. Stewart's case could be similar ie, no original crime but perjury to cover up. Fitzpatrick was on the Today show defending Comfy's position. Comfy was also inolved in pardon-gate, Hillary's election scandal with the Hasidim all of which ended up in no charges against the Dems. Supposedly Fitzpatick investigated Dem. Sen Harkin for some political doings and again came back with no charges. With the lib media building this guy up.....who knows may be political.
Our side has to be very careful the way it treats Fitzgerald. He should be respected by us and the administration, like Ken Starr was not. So far Fitzgerald has run a leak free investigation and that should be applauded. But, we should also demand some sort of report along with indictments if there are any. Some sort of explanation is deserved.
Judith Miller tipped off the Islamic charity just before it was to be raided after 9-11. And I'm wondering if she isn't knee-deep in cahouts with CIA Clintonista holdovers who are making mischief for the President.
Maybe she went to jail to protect herself. From them.
They did not do anything wrong so there should be no indictments. In fact, I actually think Plame and Wilson should charged with misuse of federal funds.
Can you imagine the Wiffleball show with Chris Matthews on should no indictmentts be handed down.
Maybe ... or maybe it was other stuff that was in her notes
Remember .. she gave Fritz an edited version of her notes
LOL, he is leaking to them, its obvious, and funny.
A sanctimonious leak investigation, leaking like crazy.
Nothing is serious in DC anymore. Nothing.
Agreed. But if he indicts on some silly perjury charge like "Rove didn't mention a conversation with Cooper" then I will think he's a partisan dill.
No, the investigation, once launched, can create preconditions for possible breaches of law, regardless of whether the primary target "crime" is ever charged. The coming indictments will be for coverup activities - perjury, obstruction of justice. Special prosecutors, folks like Starr and Fitzgerald, I assume to be acting in a non-partisan fashion, look for violations of law and try to prosecute them.
Admittedly I am a partisan, but my sense is that there will be a large "technicality" component to these charges.
I don't think so.
Daddy became CIA director in 1975. GW was born in 1946. You do the math. GW was grown and gone before Daddy learned to spell "covert".

Gimmee a break.
Yeah, I don't see where they did anything wrong. It is *possible* that one or the other could have lied to the grand jury. I don't know what either testified, but I doubt it though. Unfortuantely, you don't have to do anything wrong to get indicted. Ask Tom Delay.
In fact, I actually think Plame and Wilson should charged with misuse of federal funds.
I agree with that. In the private sector Plame would have been canned at a minimum.

"What is your analysis to come to this conclusion?"
I flipped a coin. I am hoping Fitzgerald uses the same technique.
Actually, it appears that word was out on Plame's wife by the time reporters contacted Rove. Right now, it looks like Libby has had the earliest contacts. Either way, any underlying crime is hard to see. Now we just need to hope no one lied during ttestimony (and forgetting things is not lying).
