This may be a Blue State but it has a lot of conservatives. The bad news is the liberal coastal counties are the ones with the population and the clout to make this state go Blue in Senate and presidential contests.

This looks good. The news pundits on Fox were predicting that only the one on notification about abortion would pass.

Fire chick and colleague douse union thugs that spontaniously combusted after 75 passes

In other news .......several disheartened dims attempt to cash in their one way tickets to Paris France.

"Once Prop. 75 passes (which it appears to be doing), the unions will have MAJOR money problems (they spent a TON of money on this election). Can't collect? Too bad!"

But...but...they'll need that money to support the Democratic candidate in 2008! Don't you know how many electoral votes California has? Hee hee. A bright spot tonight.

It really is remarkable how that no brainer of a ballot initiative is so controversial and relatively close.

While Cali is a sideshow, of course, it does shoe how far behind the pro life movement is in heavily populated states/urban areas.

The issue is not whether those areas think abortions should be legal or not (crystal clearly, these folks have no major problem with abortions). The issue is whether a minor can get an abortion (surgery, after all) without her parents knowing. Given that a minor can't go on a class trip or get a cavity filled without parental permission, this mindset is just psychotic.

It is, nonetheless, real.

The battle lines on abortion in many regions of the country are clearly not where the pro life movement wants them to be, especially given this shocking close race in our biggest state. At this point in the evening, I wouldn't be shocked it it even loses (somehow).

Looking at a couple of those posts, as the total count went from 19.6% to 20.7%, Prop 74's YES margin went UP from 7,000 votes to over 10,000 votes. I wouldn't count that one out yet. :)

I think the real story is that Arnold made the liberals spend 130 million dollars and even if they sweep, they are out 130 million dollars when 2006 rolls around.

Bravo Arnold.

I view this as the first days of Stalingrad. The dems may seem like they are winning, but they are expending their resources for little or no gain.

The same thing applies to NY. NYC has liberals packed in their nests like sewer rats. NYC is a tiny little area in the lower right corner of the state. You have to look for it on a map.

Whilst it is true there is a gradual erosion, the data suggests it due to the absentee votes from liberal counties.

KCAL channel 9 in LA is reporting a higher % of precincts than the SOS of CA -- where in the heck are they getting their figures? Does the Java scroll report faster?
