House Happenings for This Week posted by Denny Hastert @ 11:33am (11/18/05) | Section: Hasterts Comments
I hope everyone is well. Its been a busy week and a long night. We stayed up and passed a bill thats going to go a long way towards restraining spending and reducing the deficit. Im proud that we got it done.
I had all these great prepared remarks for the debate but then I heard the Democratic Leader get up there and completely misrepresent the situation. Let me tell you, it was frustrating. I mean, the reason the economy is standing on its feet now is because of Republican policies. We were in a recession under President Clinton the bubble was bursting. And then 9-11 came and just hit our economy hard. Republicans instituted pro-growth policies. Republicans did it. And look at the economy now we are reducing the deficit. Homeownership is up. People have jobs.

Dear Speaker Hastert,
You have justifiably lost respect from Conservative voters. Either you instill party discipline in the House, or resign and let someone else do it.
The Republican House of Representatives is only slightly more palatable than having the RATS run the place, and it has YOUR face on it.

I like Hastert a lot. He gave a touching and powerful speech at Reagan's funeral. After that I thought I would like to see him President.

"Either you instill party discipline in the House, or resign and let someone else do it."More bluntly:
Lead, follow, or get out of the way!

The first woman leader in Congress, Pelosi was the daughter of long-time Mayor of Baltimore Tommy D'Allesandro, who held that position throughout her growing-up years in Baltimore. Her father had served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives prior to becoming mayor of her hometown. Only two years after college graduation and marriage, Nancy and her husband, Paul Pelosi, moved to San Francisco, where he went into private business.' Her father and family were as corrupt as they come. One brother was up on a murder rap or some such thing.

Hastert barely has enough time to"right the ship" and avoid
losing the house in 06.He needs to aggressively embrace Mike Pence's and the the RSC's agenda. He needs to put down whatever Reynolds and Boehner are up to.Right now is where we get conservative or get sent home.

Dear HastertFan: Please get a note to Mr. Hastert that Yes, Republicans can be proud of the economy and low unemployment but who knows about all the benefits this Republican Congress is accomplishing? Repubs need to get the word out to the public because the MSM won't. If it is only writing a letter to the editor, do it. The American public has no clue what is really happening.

I don't think Shadegg is looking to move up, but I know that Eric Cantor and someone from New York State whose name I can't remember are looking to move up.
Pence seems disinterested but Flake is making threats of challenging for leadership.
Shadegg has mostly being doing footsoldier stuff for the study committee and has been active in fighting Hastert on some things.
He is one of the "disgruntled" conservatives right now.
I do know he was working on some healthcare package for awhile but its been sidetracked.

Thanks,I was worried that Shadegg appeared not to be as active as he once was.Apparently Tom Reynolds(NY) and John Boehner(OH) are planning a "coup" in January.
