Former Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff used to be the toast of Washington. Now he has plead guilty to fraud, public corruption and tax evasion in connection with dealings related to his American Indian clients, of whom he and former associate Michael Scanlon are accused of defrauding millions in fees. Scanlon was charged in November by the Justice Department with conspiracy to corrupt a U.S. lawmaker and is now cooperating with federal investigators. Abramoff, in exchange for his plea, could face up to ten years in prison while also setting the stage for investigators to use him as a witness against his former colleagues and political allies.

Many in Washington have turned on Abramoff, who used his connections to influence legislation by enticing lawmakers with golf trips, sporting events or fancy meals at his Washington restaurant. Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who once described Abramoff as a friend, now denies having been tied to him.

But Abramoff's troubles don't just end with the tribes. He has also agreed to plead guilty to fraud and conspiracy charges in connection with his 2000 purchase of SunCruz Casinos, a casino boat company that he had formerly represented. Adam Kidan, a SunCruz business partner, was also indicted. Kidan agreed in December to plead guilty.

Here is a detailed look at Abramoff's lobbying, and political contributions from Abramoff, the tribes that hired him, and SunCruz Casinos, since 1999 *Click source link above*

LOL I read that and started laughing at the stupidity. And they even looked at the same website that I posted and refuse to believe it.

Is there a typo in this chart or is this fuzzy math? When you add accross:

$216,470 + $409,513 = $625,983, but the total shows $628,983

also

$56,513 + $562,470 + $10,000 = $628,983

so something is off

Why do I sense a new era of bi-partisanship on the Hill?

Do you feel the love? I do!

Are you saying that Abranoff didn't contribute to Democrats? Because that is certainly incorrect.

The NRSC has been trying to run damage control by tieing Abramoff to Democrats, but it's not technically true. Some of Abramoff's clients made contributions to Democrats, but he has never PERSONALLY given money to a single Democrat. All of his personal and family contributions went to Republicans.

I don't think Americans care too much about this issue, however, so it would probably be better for the GOP to remain silent than try to counter with mistruths.

Not to be a pain, but then why would those returned monies not be reflected in the numbers adding up to the total? It seems that if you are cross-footing a chart they should add up.

Man, he got around!
Hopefully, you know the answer to this: I noticed in the table you put up, Kerry is shown as only collecting $1400 but other stats I've seen have him running around $98,000 (for example: Democrats Don't Know Jack???(Abramoff). What am I missing?

Take a look at post# 29 (this thread). The table shows 'individual' contributions made to the Dems.

Like others have said, this will likely yield a new era of bipartisanship (for the cover up).

Then again, the Dems have less to loose since the MSM will shill for them.

I had to take a look at the DUmmies. They completely have their heads in the sand. They still think the Dems didn't get any money from Abramoff. If I were a Dem. legislator, I wouldn't be too worried about my base - they're deaf and blind. Republicans, OTOH, better be worried if they are found to be corrupt!

Sorry, I don't have an answer.

I checked the website listed (www.campaignfinanceanalysisproject.com) and they do not have any details about the contributions.

The only difference I could find was that the web site stats I listed were from 1999-2006 and the other sites were from 1997-2004. So, maybe Kerry took a whole lot of money in 1997 & 1998.

The most laughable are the people who took his money denying they know him.

I think a more interesting list would be which of our congressional leaders did NOT receive contributions. Any at all?

Peach - yes I am saying, explicitly, that Abramoff himself did not contribute a penny to Democrats. It makes for a nice talking point to say that "Abramoff and/or his clients gave money to Democrats," but it was only the latter. And, since we are talking about Indian tribes, Jack Abramoff isn't necessary for an Indian tribe in, say, Nevada or North Dakota to give money to a Senate campaign.

If you've can point to any proof that Abramoff gave money to Dims, I'd like to see it. Every listing I've seen of his own contributions has none. Not one.
