"I knew you'd be too smart for something like this. I can't begin to understand why anyone would pay for sex. Seems like that would take the fun out of it.
"
Well, the world is full of people who, for one reason or another, simply cannot or do not get into normal relationships. Yet, they still want sexual activity. Prostitution is one outlet for that. There are others, but they don't always involve consent on the part of the other person.
Prostitution is a safety valve, in a way. That's why it exists everywhere. Yes, cities make look-see efforts to control it, but the reality is that it goes on with the tacit approval of society, generally.
I agree.
Also, as a person, I do not like someone telling me what I can and cannot do with my body. Why is selling my body for sex illegal, but my services as a maid, not?
Of course we can get into moral discussions and such, but it is a necessary outlet for alot of people. Fact most people don't want to accept.
Here is definitely something we agree on.
There are those that may look at the institution of marriage and the act of soliciting a prostitute and seek to compare them fiscally. They may come to the conclusion that, in terms of dollars and cents (or sense), prostitution is more cost effective than marriage.
I'm not going to sit here and say that the institution of marriage is not worth it - to me it is - and I consider it a sacrament and an institution of God.
I can however, see the point of some who might posit the theory that a man might spend less in the regular engagement of a prostitute and perceive a greater locus of control over their personal circumstances.
