'Shania Twain' defence works in drunk driver's favour (Note to self)

One of the most notorious drunk drivers in the Ottawa area has been found not criminally responsible on his latest impaired driving charges because of a mental disorder that makes him believe female celebrities are controlling his actions.

Matt Brownlee was arrested last October after police spotted a pickup truck speeding along a busy street in downtown Ottawa.

Matt Brownlee believed singer Shania Twain was helping him drive. (AP file photo) The 33-year-old man told psychiatrists that he knew the legal repercussions of his actions, but believed singer Shania Twain was helping him drive.

Brownlee pleaded not guilty to four charges, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving while disqualified.

On Monday, the judge drew on several psychiatric assessments in ruling that Brownlee was not criminally responsible for his actions because he suffers from delusions that celebrities such as Twain are communicating with him telepathically.

Ten years ago, Brownlee was given a seven-year prison sentence and barred from driving for the rest of his life after he killed an Ottawa woman, Linda Lebreton-Holmes, and her 12-year-old son while driving with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit.

Earlier in March, a psychiatrist told the court that Brownlee suffers from psychosis and mood disorders resulting from a brain injury caused by the 1996 car crash.

I would have been sufficiently intoxicated by the presence of Mrs. Lang in my truck.

Hard to believe Mr. Lang produced music for this exquisite creature and also produced AC/DC Back in Black.

The guy has some skillz..

From Shania's Up album, pretty much covers it.

In My Car (I'll Be The Driver)

You can choose the channel
when we're watchin' the TV
Oh babe - it's okay
And you can pick the flavor
when we're orderin' ice cream
I don't mind - yeah, that's fine
I do - hoo - hoo -
anything for you - hoo - hoo

Ah, it's alright if you sleep with
your socks on - oh, babe! it's okay!
And you can hurt my head with
your favorite rock song
I don't mind - yeah, that's fine

For you - hoo - hoo - there's
nothin' that I wouldn't do - hoo - hoo
You could put a hole in my shoe

Chorus:
But in my car - I'll be the driver
In my car - I'm in control
In my car - I come alive and
In my car - I am the driver -
watch me now!

You can blame me when you run outta
razors - oh, babe - it's okay!
And I will run around when
you ask me for favors -
I don't mind - that's fine

For you - hoo - hoo - There's nothin'
that I wouldn't do - hoo - hoo
You could put a hole in my shoe

Repeat Chorus

Instrumental Solo

I don't mind if you think you're
the strong one, yeah
Oh babe! It's okay!
And you can have your way, honey,
even when you're wrong
I don't mind! Yeah, that's fine!

For you - hoo - hoo - There's nothin'
that I wouldn't do - hoo - hoo
You could put a hole in my shoe

Repeat Chorus

Not you - hoo - hoo, not you - hoo -
hoo, not you - hoo - hoo -
Yeah, in my car I'll be the driver

Yeah, in my car I'll be the driver

Let's look at the results of his previous actions. If Twain or another star is doing his driving for him, let's cut off both his hands as that will keep him from driving.

About the only damn good thing to ever come out of Canada.

Eh... if you like country music. Personally, I think Canada produced one of the greatest rock bands of all time (Rush)- and they're libertarians to boot! Of course, they ain't pretty in the least- in fact these guys are actually kind of ugly- so I guess I can listen to Rush and look at Shania.

I love Rush as well, however I must tell you that Rush belongs to that genre of music known as "virgin rock" (i.e. that variety of music which a disproportionate number of males listen to before they lose their virginity.) Moreover, studies show that males who own eight or more Rush albums by the age of 14, on average lose their virginity 6 years later than those who own no Rush albums. Just a word to the wise.

My excuse is this good but golden oldie :)

For The Love Of Him

Shania Twain

When he opens the door and says I'm home
Be aware of the look in his eyes
They tell you the mood he's in
What kind of day its been

They'll be times where he wont say a word
And you'll wonder if its something you've said
A gentle touch of your hand
Will tell him you understand

For the love of him
Make him your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can
For the love of him
Make him your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can

He's a man and a man has to try
Let them run let them fall let them cry
His world wont fall apart
If you take him into your heart

For the love of him
Make him your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can
For the love of him
Make him your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can

He's a man and a man has to try
Let them run let them fall let them cry
His world wont fall apart
If you take him into your heart

For the love of him
Make him your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can
For the love of him
Make him your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can

You may be on to something.

I bought my first Rush album (Rush) at 16, quickly followed by "Caress of Steel," "2112" and the live album--all before that fateful day.

"Farewell to Kings" was released afterward. I bought it and listened to it, but it just wasn't the same.........
