NO AMNESTY !
Maybe the Senators noticed the angry mobs of Americans with pitchforks and torches massing outside their offices.
The phone calls and emails are having an effect. If they don't get cloture before the recess it's dead, so everyone needs to keep the phone and internet lines burning! And the pressure needs to be constant during the recess.....they need to go back to D.C. knowing that if amnesty in any form is approved they might as well start making arrangements for what to do when their term of office is terminated.
The two 'alleged' 'leaders'.
(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie. Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")
QUISLING: a synonym for traitor, someone who collaborates with the invaders of his country.
KEEP THE PHONE CALLS AND FAXES COMING!!!
Not over 'till its over ping!
Looks like they're disappointed that the deal is dying. Good.
Redouble your efforts. Phone, fax, email. Pound on them good. We must keep the pressure high.
Here's some ammo:
Congressman J. D. Hayworth nailed it:
"The Senate compromise is so convoluted, so complicated, and so unworkable that it surely must have been the work of Senators Rube and Goldberg.Gotta love that last sentence: It is amnesty wrapped in bureaucracy surrounded by fraud."This is deja vu all over again. The 1986 amnesty law had a similar approach, and that was a catastrophe. It said if you could prove you did agricultural work for just 90 days a year for the previous three years, you would qualify for a green card. The number of those applying for this benefit was three times higher than expected, largely because of fraud, which was rampant. The Senate bill would likewise be vulnerable to fraud on a grand scale and be a nightmare to administer. It is amnesty wrapped in bureaucracy surrounded by fraud."
How true!
I believe that immigrants are not criminals and that those who have come here should have the opportunity to come out of the shadows for many reasons.
1. this will open and help the party gain many more members
2. what makes this country great is how we treat our immigrants
3. lets solve this now
4. God loves the immigrant and will judge us how we treat strangers
Which Senators have voted which way, yet? All I read about are a handful of Senators in a dark room, after hours.
There are 100 Senators, 55 of whom are Republicans. Only 41 Senators can block anything.
Meanwhile, this handfull of Senators KNOW the peoples' house has passed a vastly DIFFERENT bill.
The bottom line:
They have NOT enforced the present law for the last 20 years. Lax borders. Zero employer prosecutions. Forged documents galore.
So regardless of what they wind up caving to, expect more of the same.
A week ago I didn't take a Tancredo Presidential run seriously. Now I do.
The lot of them are making far more sense than Republicans and 'Rats. Plus, of course, there are wet, mud-covered babes in bikinis.
Let's see Bush Jr. top that!
It is struggling for passage because of amendments not being added? LOL
Oh give me a break.
Usually it's the other way around. A good bill is wrecked by amendments. A good bill can and should stand on its own.
IF this isn't an orchestrated stunt in the U.S. Senate to enable a weaker, but still bad bill...
Then it's not being held up by amendments. It's held up because Senators are afraid they've pushed LEGAL American citizens that VOTE too far.
IOW: Reid doesn't want any increase in border security that would keep out those who will be seeking amnesty in 20 years.
www.NumbersUSA.comPhone your Senators one last time before the scheduled 9:30 a.m. vote on the Hagel amnesty. The Senate switchboard is 202-224-3121 . Key messages are: "The Hagel/Martinez substitute is 95% of the Judiciary Committee's amnesty that was voted down Thursday. Oppose the Hagel amnesty and vote NO on cloture that would bring the Hagel amnesty to a vote.
This offers an amnesty path to citizenship for nearly all the illegal aliens in this country. If you vote for cloture, your constituents will know that you have supported amnesty."
In all my years on FreeRepublic, I have not experienced as much despair over our future as I do now. I hope you join these organizations and set the FAXes and telephones burning before the Senate vote takes place.
Thank you . . . Penny
On a KFYI (Phoenix) news clip today John McCain said ".... compared to what we have now, this (reform) bill is nirvana."
Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure
