Since this seems to be the only science article today, I will post this little item here. It may relate to what the Romans called the Great Year, which is about 24,000 years and is when the zodiac completes a revolution.

Evidence Mounts For Companion Star To Our Sun

Newport Beach CA (SPX) Apr 25, 2006
The Binary Research Institute (BRI) has found that orbital characteristics of the recently discovered planetoid, "Sedna", demonstrate the possibility that our sun might be part of a binary star system.

There is something odd about our solar system that a second sun would explain easily, and that is the motion of the sun itself through the zodiac in not only the annual period, but the Great Year period.

That is all, nothing follows.

Likewise, the Mayan calendar which ends it's "Age" in 2012 and begins a new calendar cycle..
It also appears to have a cycle of 25,000 years or so..
( I have read cycles ranging from 24K to 26K, and do not know what is considered the "accurate" calculation.. )

At any rate, the cycle is recognized by more than one culture..
