"Earth’s axis is currently pointing at the North Star, Polaris, but it is always rotating around in a conical pattern. In about 10,000 years, it will point toward the star Vega, which will mean that winter in the Northern Hemisphere will begin in June instead of January."

These idiots can't tell you with certainty that it will rain within the next 24 hours yet can predict events 10,000 years in the future. OK, then, I'll buy the bridge that goes from manhattan to brooklyn.

They're talking astronomy, not meterology, and it's very predictable.

That's because "these idiots", unlike you, understand celestial mechanics, and why it's far more predictable over vast periods of time than nonlinear systems like the weather.

Perhaps you ought to educate yourself on the relevant topics before you make any further judgments on who's really an "idiot" and why.

Dude, it is easier to predict vaguely for the far future then precisely for tomorrow.

If you predict that in 1000 year temperature will go up 10 degrees, but it turns out that in reality it took 1200 years to get the temperature up 12 degrees, the prediction still came sort of true.

If you predict that tomorrow the temperature will be 5 degrees lower then today and it will rain, but instead it will be only 3 degrees lower and the rain isnt as bad as predicted, then the prediction failed.
