They say to pick your battles. Let's say I pick this as a battle. How do I try to get this changed? Notify local media? Ask to meet with someone at the school? Go to a board meeting?

All of the above. Draw up rational talking points. Maybe print them as a press release or as a flyer type handout at school board or City Council meetings.

i would suggest contacting one of the conservative or libertarian public interest law firms.
also, begin making it an issue at board of ed meetings. run candidates for the board who will fight this definition.
i first heard this definition on "nightline" a number of years ago. anyone who cares about this country or about justice should fight this battle.
this is very serious.
