Apparently, you can believe in God as long as you're not pro-life. Only then can you be a good liberal.

If it needs to be an agenda item, it ain't sincere.

If it ain't sincere, it's going to do them a lot more harm than good.

The covenant takes no position on abortion, except that it should not be criminalized.

That's no position?

This whole faith thing on the left should be interesting and most uncomfortable for them. It doesn't alarm me because I think the good of the premise (faith matters) far outweighs any evil they plan to do with it.

A conference geared to help Democrats violates the IRS requirements for a church - their 501(c)(3) should be yanked.
Hello, IRS? Anybody paying attention here?

The only way Democrats can infuse God into their politics is actually to be converted to God's commandments and the teachings of his prophets and his Son. You can reveal your spirituality during a campaign, but you can't "inject" it as if it were a food coloring.

"While we support the liberal agenda, we are going to a much deeper level with this spiritual critique," he said. "We want to bring in a nonutilitarian framework that sees other human beings as embodiments of the sacred."

If anyone can pull a coherent thought out of that, let me know. By the way, I wonder if any of the speakers have 10 heads and seven horns?

[A conference geared to help Democrats infuse God into their politics begins tomorrow at All Souls Unitarian Church in the District with the unveiling of a "spiritual covenant with America."]

Tough to do when the word "God" is a four letter word in your church. Their new-age spirituality bull crap about an all pervasive mother creator nurturing us and providing us with enlightenment to be better stewards of nature by embracing socialism and fighting against all things Republican is an insult to most people's intelligence.

They're nothing more than an arm of the Democratic Party, raising funds for Democratic candidates and campaigning for them while disguised as a benevolent religious group. Some of my neighbors are Unitarians and they proudly talk about how much time they spent at official church functions campaigning for John Kerry and raising funds for him and doing the same thing for Al Gore and Bill Clinton previous to that.

Of course, it's a complete myth that the religious Left has been sitting on the sidelines all these years, doing nothing politically, while the Religious Right flourished. The religious Left - the WCC, the NCC, all the "peace and justice" groups, have been mobilized for years. The difference between them and the RR is that they are elitist organizations who operate somewhat secretively in national and international conferences, drawing up position papers with little feedback from, or responsibility to, the people back home. On the other hand, the RR is largely grass roots, with no philosophical gap between leadership and the masses.

The Democratic penchant for moral exhibitionism means the immigration debate will now recieve the bowel movement of spirituality.

I see among the speakers both Jim Wallis (Sojourners) and Sister Joan Chittester (pro-abortion nun). Amazingly, these two appear to be the most orthodox folks on the agenda.

At first I thought this was one of those Dummy Funnies. This is totally unbelievable and very very sad. I wonder if they even have a clue about what they are talking about.

A Democrat with religon is like a hog with a bag of money, no one knows where he got it, he has no idea what to do with it. This is another example of them trying to be what they are not because they think it will gain votes.
