"Darwin and God: can they co-exist? "

They do co-exist.

The problem is, one is lying and the other one is not.

I believe in God so I couldn't possibly believe in Darwin.

Who do YOU have your FAITH in?

BTW, the evidence doesn't point to Darwin ... .

"Who do YOU have your FAITH in?"

This isn't a matter of faith, but of logic and evidence. While religion varies from place to place; science is universal.

God called Darwin to stand before Him.

"Now that you have been here for a while, have you changed your mind about anything?"

... "Yes, Lord, I have ... Did You isolate mankind on the planet Earth so that they would develop into a unique kind of entity, like the turtles and lizards and birds of the Galapagos?"

There is a somewhat disturbing lack of understanding about what evolution actually is, even within the evolution/ID debate. It's depressing, as a scientist, every time I turn on the television and see people arguing against and trying to suppress a theory they don't even understand.

Evolution does not attempt to address the origins of life. It only notes what has been observed to happen to that life once it has been created. Evolution and creationism co-exist perfectly.

We observe mutations every day -- children unfortunately born blind or with extra or fewer limbs. Those are examples of negative mutations. However, once in a while there is a mutation that, while unusual, actually BENEFITS the child. If the benefit is great enough, the opposite sex will instinctively find it attractive and the mutated gene will be passed down to the next generation. That is evolution.

Darwin, as a Christian, never suggested that God did not have a hand in the development or progression of human life.

So do you believe in physics? In Astronomy? Are those points of light out there suns or are they just stars scattered in the dark as Genesis says? Do you beleive in Gravity?

Hint: A theory is not an observed phenomenon.

I am sorry your God says you have to close your eyes to truth. That is usually the words of one with much lower aspirations.
