White House political strategist Karl Rove said Tuesday that the highly charged immigration debate has "clouded" the views of some Americans, leading them to dismiss the importance of immigrants and their contribution to the nation's success.
"Everything that this country is, everything that we have achieved, everything that we hold, everything that we promise, is because we are a nation of diversity, brought together by immigration, and sharing a common dream," Rove told members of the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights group, the National Council of La Raza.
Rove ticked off enforcement elements of the president's proposal, but added, "All these measures will come to naught without a temporary worker program. ... It's not enough to say send them home."
He also warned that critics against were confusing the debate with catchwords, rather than solutions.
"Too many simplify the problem into one word, "amnesty," Rove said. "In an issue this vital, we cannot allow words to be misused."

Do you know what Reconquista is?
Yes, a radical movement to reconquer much of the southwest. It's comprised of a miniscule minority of delusional latino's.
Do you know what LaRaza stands for?
Yes, same as above, with an emphasis on tiny minority.
And yet, you think it was OK that Rove addressed this miniscule minority of delusional latinos?? Interesting, but disturbing.

He said "Hispanic" not Mexican.
Not at all. Not everyone who disagrees with Rove is disagreeing due to an anti-hispanic bent. I would have thought that was so obvious that it needed no explanation. However, there are those who are harboring a serious resentment towards hispanics, and it would be extremely naive for you or anyone else to deny that. It was to those that my post was addressed, and none needed take it upon themselves to be included in the latter group, unless they truly belonged to it.
I've cut down posting on the immigration/border threads. Zealots from both sides of the issue have hijacked FR.

Very true. Good catch.
I guess Rove is not the Maestro that we all believed.
This was not just a stupid manuver,
IT WAS A MEGA COLLOSSAL stupid manuver.
it all just leaves a bad taste, and the funny thing is I am not opposed to a guest worker program which does not have ANY path to citizenship and actually MANDATES the guest is a guest and not just another green card.
A friend of mine is a manger in one of America's largest, most respected corporations. He has difficulty finding the highly skilled workers that he needs.
His company lobbies the government to allow more visas to bring in Asians to fill these jobs.
But guess what? My friend is not allowed to hire graduates of top U.S. schools. He can only hire from a list of minority schools which ain't turning out too many sophisticated technology grads. What is wrong with this picture?
I think you have been on enough of these threads that you know full well exactly what your post would be taken for.

ALL families predate the Declaration, the Constitution and every historical figure you could name. The issue is who owns the land, who controls the borders, and who can benefit from the tax monies stolen from my wages.
LOL! With a moniker like that do you expect me to try and reason with you?
Although I now get a sense about how those elitists liberals think about all of us when I read your posts.
1-1 tied in the top of the 3rd inning. The country boy American just showed Guerrero how to turn a fastball himself.
WHO SAYS THE HISPANICS CAN PLAY BETTER?? ;^)
That's the way it should read!
Sure there are some Hispanics who trace their linage here back to the Mexican-American war. The poster HispanaRepublicana has told me she can. I've been to New Mexico and am aware of these old Spanish families we have.
HOWEVER in the year 1950 the Hispanic population in the continental Unites States was 1% of the population. (not counting Puerto Rico here) Today Hispanics are 11% of the population and probably higher due to uncounted illegal immigrants. Our present day Hispanic population is roughly 90% attributable to post 1950 immigration. Legal and illegal. The United States has very little Hispanic heritage in comparison to Blacks, Irish, Germans, Jews even.
Why are you throwing out such obvious bait, even after the moderator has specifically called for it's halt? Surely you can be more adult than this, surely.
Unfortunately, I've been on enough of these threads to know that some can broach no disagreement whatsoever without personal attacks. If that was supposed to stop me from posting, I'm afraid not. It doesn't work that way.
---I can't get past the shock that Washington is in step with the democratic party.---
To many of us Karl Rove was a hero. I supported Bush right up through the Dubai deal and I feel utterly betrayed. This is all terribly sad and disappointing. I am at a loss what to do. I feel I have no Party any longer.
On H& C,Rick Roberts of San Diego w/Minuteman Clint Hamilton showing the violence they encounter from the illegals on our border (not too many miles from my house)
I must be tired,I'm not sure what that post means. I don't think anyone can stop you from posting. I'm simply suggesting that what you posted was BOUND to be taken exactly as it was taken.
BTW cute baby on your page.

Yes. I resent a group of people who are illegally invading this nation. They treat our laws as a joke. Americans are not invading any Hispanic nation but Mexicans/Central Americans/Latin Americans are invading America. On top of that I prefer the quasi-Anglo culture we have here to the Hispanic culture. How do you like them apples!
