Vets upset with soldier cartoon

(Milford-AP, Aug. 14, 2006 6:13 AM) _ A poster protest in Milford continues with some military veterans taking issues with a poster in the window of a local liquor store.

Some veterans organizations are calling for a boycott of TJs Package store if owner Thomas Jakubisyn does not remove the cartoon poster.

The cartoon depicts a soldier in camouflage and reads: "Out of Work? Undereducated? No Health Plan? Join the Army and see Iraq."

Jakubisyn, a Vietnam veteran, says he has no intention of taking the sign down.

Members of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America and Military Moms have joined forces and formed "Veterans and Families for the Troops."

One of the protesters says the cartoon feeds into an inaccurate stereotype that American soldiers are less educated and less employable.

Looks like a former Navy guy ... maybe he's having a little fun at the expense of the Army.

That's a generous thought, but read the article I posted under his picture. This dude's an anti-war nut, still spewing about "Bush lied" and that kind of crap.

O.K., the good folks (and there are many) in Connecticut need to use this to the political advantage of Conservative candidates and even the Liberal pro-Israel, pro-WOT candidate, Joe Lieberman.

Heck, Conservatives can exploint this politically nationwide by pointing out the subliminally obvious: "The moobat, liberal, anti-war, Terrorist-lovin' Democrats think because you or your son or daughter joined the military, you/they are ignorant and unemployable. The "New" Starbucks Democrats think they are smarter than you and that they can manipulate you to elect Democrats so they can manipulate all of us "ignorant" people once they get into office.

Tie this political gaff around their neck and watch them drown in their own cesspool.

He was on a cruiser??? Hardly difficult duty during Vietnam.
Just another stupid wuss using Vietnam as a shield. Moron.
Probably been using his service as an excuse to every thing
he has screwed-up in his pathetic little life.

One of the protesters says the cartoon feeds into an inaccurate stereotype that American soldiers are less educated and less employable.

As soon as my nephew graduated college, he joined the army and went to OCS. He is now 27 years old, a Major, working in the drone-plane program making lots of cash.

The military is not a great deal different from civilian work. Got no education, you work in labor, got a good education, you work in management.

The article states he was in the Navy from 59 to 62 and was not a combat veteran.

He did have the horrifying experience of having his ship go on alert once, though.

I hope the locals picket his store and raise hell...especially those who HAVE heard a shot or two fired in anger.

That's what we are up against. The right of the immoral, amoral criminal element to assert that "everybody does it" against traditional values. They are so far out there that they don't even recognize the ridiculousness of a liquor seller trying to take the moral high ground. Give me a break. I am quite sure that alcohol-related deaths exceed military casualties by an astronomical ratio. I'd leave him alone, if he wsan't in our face, however.

He didn't specifically attack the Marine Corps either. I'm still offended by the sleazeball.

Perhaps the DNC pays him under the table to keep the sign in the window.

Well, he seems to like the idea of boycotts, since he signed this.

Hope a whole lot of locals agree.
