Thanks for the ping. That's an interesting find. One thing that's interesting about it is that the Welsh were known for using a little boat called a "coracle." (http://www.data-wales.co.uk/coracle1.htm) From the picture and description, this boat isn't a coracle. Maybe that says something about the people who were using it.

The design is simple enough that many people groups could have developed something similar on their own. However, the semblance between the Welsh coracle and the bull boats that some American Indians used on the upper Missouri River was part of why some people once believed that the Mandan Indians were descendants of the Welsh explorer Madoc.
