"The Voice of Reason" has been silenced.
Beginning today, WHLD-AM News Talk 1270's short-lived experiment in progressive programming - featuring locally produced broadcasts and syndicated shows from Air America Radio and Pacifica - has been converted to an urban inspirational station.
...
The new station will include gospel music, talk radio and brokered time, in which churches buy air time and produce their own shows.

Nice way of saying "PAID PROGRAMMING". Imagine that, infomercials (mostly get rich quick, get laid quick, grow hair quick, and other scams) generate more audience than progressive radio. Same audience.

Our conservative station, 640AM WHLO, is doing MUCH better than WJMP and WTOU, the TWO liberal stations that IIRC don't have as much listenership as WHLO.
And, to be honest, WHLO is still only about 13th overall in the market.

"Urban Inspirational"
URBAN INSPIRATIONAL is the new cutting edge branding and positioning of the musical genre designed to appeal to a broad mainstream audience while providing content containing positive and clean messaging. The new URBAN INSPIRATIONAL genre presents a counter culture and relevant alternative to the violence, racism and sexism currently found in a large amount of todays music aimed at the Generation XY Cusp demographic.
In addition, URBAN INSPIRATIONAL also provides an accurate categorization for a strong and significant portion of todays music and entertainment, creating new global sales and marketing opportunities for the large cross-section of music and entertainment that currently does not receive the appropriate wide reaching exposure.

The article says it will "change the music industry forever." Anything's better than standard hip-hop.

That certainly cleared it up - something like, "My Ho's gonna go to heaven and yours is gonna flop" kind of thing or old-fashioned gospel stuff?

I heard/read over the weekend, probably Drudge Radio last night, that AAR's raison d'être was just about completed,
with Reid and Pelosi in power.

"'Progressive' is a term stolen from Teddy Roosevelt Republicans"
The Progressives were a branch of the communist party that spun off in the 50's in an attempt to take over the Demonrat party.
