Saudi al-Qaida group: Attack Canada, Mexico oil sites

CAIRO, Egypt — A Saudi Arabian terrorist faction affiliated with al-Qaida has urged Muslim militants to attack oil facilities all over the world, including Canada, Mexico and Venezuela, to stop the flow of oil to the United States, according to an article by the group posted on the Internet.

Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula said in its monthly magazine posted on an Islamic Web site that "cutting oil supplies to the United States, or at least curtailing it, would contribute to the ending of the American occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan." The group said it was making the statements as part of Osama bin Laden's declared policy. It was not possible to verify independently that the posting was from the terror faction.

Al-Qaida claimed responsibility for last year's attacks on oil installations in Saudi Arabia and Yemen after bin Laden called on militants to stop the flow of oil to the West. The group also was behind the 2002 attack on a French oil tanker that killed one person in the Gulf of Aden.

The article in the online magazine Sawt al-Jihad, or Voice of the Holy War, said the United States would always need more oil.

"In the long run, America might be able to lessen its dependence on Middle East oil and would be satisfied with oil from Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and other new customers or double its dependence on alternative energy resources; therefore, oil interests in all regions that serve the U.S. and not only in the Middle East, should be attacked," said the article.

The online magazine said the aim of the attacks was to "cut its (U.S.) oil imports or reduce them by all means."

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service declined to comment on the report.

Ray Lord, a spokesman for Chevron Corp., told the Canadian media company CanWest News that the company was not aware of the threat but it takes security threats seriously. "It is a top priority for us. Ever since 9/11 our entire company has been on an elevated alert," he said.

In Mexico, presidential spokesman Maximiliano Cortazar told reporters that President Felipe Calderon's government was trying to confirm the veracity of the threat. Venezuela's Foreign Ministry said it had no immediate comment.

Al-Qaida, in a statement claiming responsibility for attacks in November on oil installations in Yemen, said "these operations were carried out upon the directive of our emir (leader) Osama bin Laden, may God protect him, in which he ordered Muslims to strike at the Western economy and drain it, and to halt the robbing of Muslims' wealth."

Talk about a$$-backward thinking. We'll have troops all over the place if they start attacking facilities. We can also respond by taking out all of Iran's refining capacity.

If Al-Qaeda operatives attempt a terrorist attack on assets in Mexico and they are caught, they will be tortured within an inch of their lives, housed in conditions unfit for a rabid dog, and swiftly executed after a brief trial.

And since it isn't happening in America, no one will care.

Has anyone given this information to Pelosi and the US Liberal Congress? According to Liberals and RINO's the war on terror is a myth. Cut and run and surrender has always been the Liberal policy. As always, they believe the world is perpetually at peace. In the Liberal Twilight Zone, there are no enemies in the world except Republicans. Life is one big love-fest.

We could and should be pumping and refining our oil so we could tell these tools to take the next exit.

Of course, that will NEVER happen with the Donkeys in charge and their lapdog press harping the "environmental" agenda of the Lunatic Left.

Al Qaeda would hit Chavez to hurt us? There would be something sweetly ironic about that.

This is an excellent strategy from their perspective. I wonder how many facilities in the United States and Canada would have to be attacked before we began to enforce immigration laws and reconsider our immigration policy.

What would scare me is if Al-Qaeda infiltrated our lawmakers and bribed them to not develop oil in the United States, thereby making us more beholden to Saudi oil.

Hey, wait a minute...

They have figured out that oil is the lone, single commodity their hideous, disfunctional countries and cultures have to offer the world. But they don't know what to do with that insight.

These are countries that basically did not support the U.S. toppling of Saddam Hussein, who have been vocal in disagreement with our tactics.

Yet, the terrorists are talking about attacking THEM on their own soil.

Seems the Spain mindset, of "leaving them alone and they'll leave us alone" is a flawed strategy against these animals. Maybe after the first attack, they'll join the U.S. as good allies do in our war against fantatic Islam.
