And, going back further, it was probably a good site to build a warcamp before the Europeans arrived, and more than a few hunting camps, and maybe even some permanent villages.

Odds are good there was both a hot spring and a cold spring near the area, and a fast flowing stream to take away sewage.

There are probably materials at the site dating back more than 10,000 years.
