ISRA Home Page All Illinois gun owners are invited to join in Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day (IGOLD) in Springfield on March 14, 2007. This is an annual event where the members directly lobby their representatives in the Illinois House and Senate. This year, the ISRA is partnering with local and internet organizations in Illinois to increase participation and make a bigger & better impression in Springfield. The other sponsoring organizations are IllinoisCarry.com & CCRA/GSL. Get your local organization involved as well!

We will meet in the auditorium of the Howlett Building at 12:30 pm for registration. We will have a legislative briefing, then we will all proceed to the Capitol Building to locate and talk with our representatives. We will have a reception at the Illinois State Library Auditorium from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. We are urging all participants to stay until the end of the reception. This is a very important part of the day, as the state's legislators have been invited to attend.

ISRA Home Page Message From Valinda Rowe:

Gov. Blagojevich & Mayor Daley think they have the votes now to ramrod their anti-gun agenda through the Illinois House & Senate. They might be right about the numbers. Gun owners in Illinois may have lost ground in the November 2006 election. There are some unknown new votes in the House & Senate now ... at least regarding 2nd amendment issues. 2007 is probably going to be one of the roughest years we have ever seen for gun owners in Illinois. If we can stop bad gun laws, it will likely be by very slim margins.

Therefore, the upcoming Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day (IGOLD) scheduled for March 14 is EXTREMELY important for all gun owners in Illinois. We must have a big turn-out for that event to show waffling legislators how important this is to Illinois citizens.

We are chartering several commercial buses (cushy types that carry about 50 people) to bring people to Springfield from all over the state. We have to show the whole Illinois House and Senate how important this issue is by virtue of the numbers of voters we can get to Springfield on Wednesday, March 14. We are working on getting buses from Chicago (yes, there are pro-gun folks there, too), the Quad-cities area, Champaign, and the metro-east also.

At this time we have 7 charter buses scheduled for IGOLD, 1 from Champaign, 2 from the Chicago area, 1 from Quad-cities, 1 from Quincy, AND Southern Illinois will be represented!!!! The sponsors are offsetting some of the cost of riding the bus, but for most buses there will be a $20 cost for each rider for the round trip.

I implore all Illinois gun owners to make this a top priority! Gentlemen, double our numbers by bringing the women in your family with you, be it wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or niece - promise them anything you have to - just get them to Springfield on March 14th!!

Special note to all the women gun owners in Illinois: Let's make our voices heard in the General Assembly on March 14th at IGOLD! Let's double our numbers by bringing our mothers, our daughters, our nieces, and granddaughters to the State Capitol. Let's set an example of how women need to step forward and step up for our rights as gun owners, sporting shooters, and hunters. Not only do we not want them banning our target rifles, hunting firearms or home defense guns - now is the time to voice our need to have the same opportunity to defend ourselves as the women in 48 other states do - it's time our legislators understand women need more than a mere sheet of paper, like orders of protection, when facing the threat of violent bodily harm or possible death.

Need a large turnout from the suburbs of Chicago and the larger cities around the state that have anti-gun politicians in there districts.

Just giving you a bump.

I was in Springfield last month for an event at the Hoogland Center for the Arts. It's a really nice town. I wish I had had more time to see some other sites.

Good luck to the IL gun owners. You guys have a tough time in that state with all the Anti-Freedom legislators feeding from Daley's Chicago trough.

If you ever get tired of it, come on down to Kentucky. We've got some of the best laws respecting the Second Amendment in the nation. We earned an "F" from the Brady knuckleheads if that tells you anything!

The states around us are much better Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Iowa have concealed carry. Wisconsin and Illinois are the lone holdouts nationwide.

Well, that would be kind of hard. I'm about 1,000 miles away down in Texas. :-)

I just saw the post last night and since I really liked the town, I wanted to give your post a bump.

Iowa is a 'may' issue state and also has an onerous pistol permit also. Bizarre in a state with nice gun shows that I like to go to.

Yes, on the whole better than Illinois but also duped into democrat by longstanding farm welfare.

Have no fear. I'll be there with my Illinois Retired Officer Concealed Carry permit. I will be lobbying for permits for ALL law abiding citizens.
