Of ants and illegal aliens
The Collins Report ^ | June 7, 2007 | John F. Allen

Posted on 06/07/2007 7:17:05 AM PDT by jmaroneps37

Ants are good at finding the shortest path from a food source to their nest. Illegal aliens are just as skilled at meeting their goals. Like ants, they will go to a food/job source until it no longer serves their needs.

Both ants and illegal invaders bring unsanitary conditions that threaten civil societies. Both can seemly hone in on their targets without using visual cues. They transmit information about a “find” to others in their nests.

Both are capable of adapting to changes in their environment, and changing their ways of life to fit new circumstances. Illegal invaders from subtropical climates can be found in Minnesota laying sod and shoveling snow. Ants will adapt and find a new short path to what they want if an existing path is some how blocked. When faced with a wall, illegal invaders will find a way around it.

Ants will use a form of communication to maintain a path to what they want; they mark their trail. When a way through our border is discovered by an illegal invader word of this new path spreads back to others, always, all the time. Neither ants nor illegal invaders are deterred once they find a weakness in an obstacle keeping them away from their goals.

Once they have crawled into our homes, ants are not interested in becoming our pets. They don’t want to be part of our families. They want to take what they want and then leave. Most illegal invaders are only interested in citizenship as a way to access even more of our sugar. Most are not interested in becoming Americans, but rather living like citizens of their old countries in America. When either group finds a new shortcut it had been searching for, it will use it over and over….

It really is this simple. Shut down the borders by shutting down employment of illegal aliens. Call the senate 202 224 3121.

That analogy bugs me.

When faced with a wall, illegal invaders will find a way around it.

I'm gonna quibble with this. An actual wall in Israel pretty much fixed their termite problem.

Ants contribute nothing to our economy; they do no work.

Illegals work very hard in exchange for very low wages. There are plenty of small businesses that could not exist without their help.

That seems like a big difference right there.

That’s why this is such a tough issue for many. It seems like an easy issue only when you look at one point of view (worker or employer).

I worked for a business that depended on illegals to run its factory, and supported about 50 people on the sales and administrative side, all of who were legal residents.

By getting rid of illegals, some of our own jobs will be in danger.

Some other differences.

We don’t have to pay for the Ants’ healthcare and welfare.

Ants are not given a free pass on crimes because they are ants.

The Ants larvae will not get a vote in 16 years time.

This is an annoying article that focuses on entirely the wrong problem. People are people. Mexicans are, although the article seems uncertain, people. People respond to the incentive structure around them. Mexicans are doing what, en masse, Americans would be doing were the situation reversed. Insulting animal analogies are both stupid and unhelpful.

What we need to focus on is the incentive structure the illegals have responded to how that incentive structure got into place. Turns out, the fingers point right back at us. Here are the relevant decisions that got us where we are.

* Date Uncertain. Congress and the courts agree to an interpretation of the citizenship clause of the constitution that means if you are born here, you are a citizen, even if your parents are here illegally. IE, anchor babies.

* 1965. Teddy Kennedy and the rest of the left pass a bill allowing chain migration.

* 1965 thru present. Congress, the President, and the INS wink at our porous border. They are responding to pressure by two sets of Americans (not Mexicans): (1) The left, who realize they could have an entirely new underclass to exploit and that their kids (see anchor babies above) will vote left; and (2) Businesses who would like cheap labor that won't whine at working conditions or rat them out to OSHA. Both groups WANT an underclass they can exploit. Our elected officials gave it to them.

* 1986. Congress passes and Reagan signs the Immigration Amnesty bill. It promises border security and amnesty. We get only amnesty, as the same political pressures noted above continue to produce the same porous border.

* Various times in various jurisdictions. Welfare, education, and health benefits are extended to illegal aliens, either explicitly or by more winking.

* The beginning to time 'til present. The Mexican government runs a corrupt, dysfunctional country that is unable to feed

* The beginning to time 'til present. America is rich, with tons of available jobs.

Folks, I have no beef with the Mexicans who crossed the border. The message we have been sending for 40 years is: "Come on over. We have jobs, money and benefits for you. Technically it is illegal. But we really don't care. If you're lucky, you will be here at the next amnesty bill."

Heck, in their situation, I would probably do the same thing and I bet a bunch of the folks complaining here about Mexicans would too.

The point is: STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT AND INSULTING MEXICANS. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of:

(1) our political class, who will do anything for a vote or a campaign contribution;

(2) our leftists who yearn for another underclass to exploit;

(3) our businesses, many of whom yearn for another underclass to exploit;

(4) Our Media, who have studiously ignored this problem for decades; and

(5) The American public, who has elected a bunch of unprincipled idiots for 40 years and let them run amok.

All this said: I probably agree with the author's prescription. I'm a secure borders first kind of guy.

But I've known illegals as acquaintances and neighbors. For a few years, I lived on the edge of the barrio and, no question, I would rather have them as neighbors than Teddy Kennedy our the Clintons. STOP BLAMING THE MEXICANS, WHO JUST DID WHAT OUR POLITICAL CLASS WANTED THEM TO DO.

Put the blame where it belongs--on Teddy, John McCain, Lindsay Graham and all the jerks who went before them and brought us to this point.

"By getting rid of illegals, some of our own jobs will be in danger."

Either way you are going to have to adjust.
It's up to you whether you'd rather shift jobs, increase your value in your job, start your own business, py your employees a bit more, etc....
Or whether you'd rather add numbers to the socialist base, add demands on your (increased) tax dollars, subsidize criminal and terrorist activities, watch the basic values of the USA mutate into those of a consistently failing third world cesspool - and use spanish as our second 'official' language.

Up to you, and the vast majority of Americans who would prefer option number one.

Illegals work very hard in exchange for very low wages. There are plenty of small businesses that could not exist without their help.

Some illegals work hard. Some illegals don't. Many illegals make good money. Carpentry, masonry, landscaping, law enforcement, drug smuggling and the US military all pay fairly well.

That’s why this is such a tough issue for many. It seems like an easy issue only when you look at one point of view (worker or employer).

It is simple. Enforce current law. Hire Americans and legal aliens

I worked for a business that depended on illegals to run its factory, and supported about 50 people on the sales and administrative side, all of who were legal residents.

I work with illegal aliens almost every day. They are scourge upon this country.

By getting rid of illegals, some of our own jobs will be in danger.

Any job that depends on the labor of illegal aliens doesn't deserve to survive.
