IRAN: WOMAN 'TO BE STONED' (TO DEATH) ON THURSDAY
AKI ^ | 6/20/07 | RAH

Posted on 06/20/2007 1:25:37 PM PDT by Bokababe

Tehran, 20 June (AKI) - Makrameh Ebrahimi on Thursday will be stoned to death in a square in front of the cemetery of Takestan, in Ghazvin province some 100 km from Tehran, for having had a child out of wedlock 11 years ago, women's rights groups in Iran said. The Islamic Republic denies issuing stoning death sentences and carrying them out. Thursday's is the first death sentence by stoning to be publicly announced and rights groups say the population has been invited to participate and throw stones.

It is reportedly unclear how many stoning sentences have been issued and carried out in Iran since reports of a moratorium by the judiciary emerged in 2002.

The Iranian criminal code states that when stoning is carried out for offences such as adultery the stones should not be too large because "the punishment of stoning is designed to cause the victim great pain before death".

In Iran, the convicted person to be killed is wrapped in a sheet and partly buried. Male convicts are buried from the waist down, while women are buried deeper to prevent the breasts from becoming exposed.

Iran is second in a global ranking of countries with the highest number of executions per year after China.

“Even if that means lining up all of the adults who protest this, and shooting them.”

Stoning would be more appropriate for subhumans like these scum.

I'm humane enough to give them a quick death. Unless they're certified terrorists, or mullahs, or imams, or whatever they call the ringleaders of the religion of pieces.

"There is something that is missing from this story. What about the father of this out-of-wedlock-child?"

Same sort of question as fits the oft-quoted and -misrepresented story from John 8. This is probably not the right thread to elaborate on that story; but suffice to say, it takes two to tango. To punish only one of the two is injustice.

So, the left’s affection for a country is directly proportional to the number of citizens it executes?

Unless it's some Christian fascist state like Texas.

According to the Amnesty International website, the man will also be stoned. For some reason his name is not given nor did I see anything that indicates where the child is.

You would expect that both the man and the woman get stoned at the same time and each get as much publicity.

"According to the Amnesty International website, the man will also be stoned."

Thank you for the info. At least there's some equality under the law, harsh though it is.

Wonder if that's generally the case? If so, why do we usually hear only about the executions of the female adulterers?

As for the severity of the punishment: I have zero sympathy for philanderers and home-wreckers.

Same sort of question as fits the oft-quoted and -misrepresented story from John 8. This is probably not the right thread to elaborate on that story; but suffice to say, it takes two to tango. To punish only one of the two is injustice.

You refer, of course, to the woman taken in adultery ("in the very act") who was brought to Jesus. He said, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." (John 8:7).

As you note, the story is oft-quoted and oft-misrepresented. The law of Moses prescribed the death penalty for adultery:

And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. (Lev. 20:10)
Note that the sentence was to be applied equally to the man and the woman. To punish one and not the other would be, as you say, injustice.

The whole situation was a setup, meant to entrap Jesus "that they might have to accuse him." (John 8:6) That is clear from the fact that the woman was caught in the act but not her partner.

They have shrunken penises.

Otherwise known as TPS - tiny penis syndrome.

There are people in this country who suffer from the same condition. It is usually manifested by owning and driving 4 wheel drive trucks that are jacked up so high that you would need a stepladder to get into it, or the more subtle ones own a 3/4 ton Pickup, tricked out, that has never seen any road that wasn't paved, and has never been off-road, or even hauled anything. They're just rolling road-blocks, to make the owners feel like men, to compensate for their TPS.

Every locality has at least one cop that suffers from this syndrome. He's the one who throws his weight around, and wants to be the "big man", by bullying and intimidating people.

“just the sight of a whole face causes the male to be overcome with lust”

When the only women I ever saw outside the family were wearing burkhas, a whole female face would probably have exactly that effect. Maybe they’re creating their own problem.

Ah, no. That’s gotta be flawed logic. In this country, demonizing marijuana would just make it popular yet the DEA says their WOD is worth the expense.

Exactly.

Further, the Law required that "the hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death" - which is exactly what Jesus offered, and what those "witnesses" declined.

Not only that, but the penalty for being a false witness was whatever penalty was due for the crime at issue. If those "witnesses" in John 8 were found to be false witnesses, they would pay with their lives.

It was a suspicious-looking setup from the get-go. The stakes were high if they were found out. No wonder they declined Jesus's offer to allow the punishment phase to proceed.

(One more note: The testimony of at least two witnesses was required to establish guilt. When the "witnesses" left, the trial ended in acquittal.)

In the stoning death of the 16 year Afghan old girl a few weeks, some on the sones were bricks and cinderblocks.

May it be fast. I am at a loss for words.
So uncivilized.

Hmmm. Stoning. Not a bad idea. Why didn't
we try that @ Abu Ghrab(sp).

Wait. Guantanamo is still open. Let's use this stoning with a modification. Bury 4 at a time up to their armpits. That way they could try to catch the stones and throw 'em back. More sporting.
