Witnesses spoke of a terrifying chain of events which began with the dark green Jeep crashing up the pavement near international arrivals.
It got stuck on a road sign as the driver, an Asian male, tried frantically to free it and ram it through the doors.
Margaret O'Neil, 45, of Springboig, Glasgow, said: "I was 5ft away from the car and I looked straight into the passenger's eyes.
"He was wearing a red and white scarf around his head and neck and only his eyes were visible.
"He was so calm. I met his stare and he didn't even flinch. His face actually looked peaceful. Had he made it through the doors we would be dead now."
Businesswoman Sally Cameron, 36, of Broughty Ferry, said: "It was like something from a horror movie. We watched in disbelief as one of the men carrying a petrol can in each hand and totally ablaze charged at the departure area.
"He was kicking out at people and was a human fireball.
"Then he collapsed to the ground on all fours and we watched as he burned for fully two minutes."

When these people take lessons at flight school, they skip the part about how to land. Comning to a controlled stop is not a prioirty to them.
He’ll probably be given the best burn care available in Scotland, and not be charged a penny.
If he recovers, he’ll probably initiate a lawsuit from his jail cell against the airport for the road sign that ruined his car and the police officer who so cruelly tried to save him.
And he’ll be provided with the best lawyers for the circus trial that will take months to conclude, all the while being allowed to spew his islamofascist propaganda in the courtroom.
Yes, makes you wonder why they don’t have better barriers that would prevent that sort of act. I think quite a few buildings in the US have barriers that are close together so that a car couldn’t drive into them. After this, the UK might have more of them, too.
