Founder's Quotes - Overturning Republics - Hamilton
The Patriot Post - Federalist Papers ^ | 1787 | Alexander Hamilton

Posted on 08/29/2007 8:11:08 AM PDT by Loud Mime

"Of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people, commencing demagogues and ending tyrants." -- Alexander Hamilton (Federalist No. 1, 27 October 1787)

"The reformation was preceded by the discovery of America, as if the Almighty graciously meant to open a sanctuary to the persecuted in future years, when home should afford neither friendship nor safety." -- Thomas Paine (Common Sense, 1776)

“The prevailing spirit of the present age seems to be the spirit of skepticism and captiousness, of suspicion and distrust in private judgment; a dislike of all established forms, merely because they are established, and of old paths, because they are old.” —Samuel Johnson

“The most important consequence of marriage is, that the husband and the wife become in law only one person... Upon this principle of union, almost all the other legal consequences of marriage depend.” —James Wilson

To give, a government must take. As the obsequious politicians increase their debt to their voters, they must eventually target a group for increased "donations."

That is the start of their tyranny.

We need to go back to the old values. The only problem is that the lawyers will tear the words apart and say “What they really meant was.......” Just as they have done with our Constitution. “We the people” need to decide, not the lawyers or illegal immigrants.

We need to go back to the old values.

I call them proven values.

While we are multiculturing America away, the Islamics keep their genetics pure by honor killings.

What a difference!

Jer 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Read the whole Chapter. It’s very telling about where we are as a country.

That is the problem, isn't it? We need a good civil war to clean house. As Patrick Henry said, "Give me liberty or give me death".

Today’s politicians are a new elite class, separate from the citizens who they claim to be helping.

All the while, the politicians are helping themselves to the riches of our dwindling treasury.

"When all government, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the Center of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated."
– Thomas Jefferson

I love the quote. Thank You! My pleasure!

Here's another one of my favorites. Not from the Founders, exactly, but it is from one of the treatise they often quoted:

Of the Simplicity of Criminal Laws in different Governments
In republican governments, men are all equal; equal they are also in despotic governments:
in the former, because they are everything; in the latter, because they are nothing.

THE SPIRIT OF LAWS Book VI By Charles de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu
