Will George Soros Buy the Presidential Election of 2008?
FOX NEWS ^ | September 24, 2007 | Bill O'Reilly

The real story behind the MoveOn smear attack on General Petraeus is far left financier George Soros. He has given millions to MoveOn and other Internet sites that smear conservatives and traditionalists.

If you want to know the full extent of Soros' intrusion into the political process, read Investors Business Daily's editorial today. Go to their Web site. It is downright frightening.

Now the far left billionaire has bought politicians, journalists, an Internet character assassins. He wields tremendous power in this country. So much power that 24 Democratic senators were afraid to condemn MoveOn for its outrageous attack on General Petraeus. Those senators include Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Christopher Dodd, and Harry Reid. Again, those senators would not vote to condemn the MoveOn ad.

First you have to assume that the White House is for sale. After that, everything falls into place. That’s a dangerous assumption, even for billionaires. What’s his success rate with his “purchasing power?”

I, for one, would love to see hundreds of thousands more voters heading for the polls in 2008 — just like the monks in Burma today who were so numerous you couldn’t see the back of the group from the front marchers.

Soros is willing to buy what’s on the table that’s for sale. He may be surprised by a lot more voters who show up for the first time in a long time. There’s lots of room for improvement with the number of voters who actually go to the polls.

I didn’t realize he was now and “ex-communist.”

I’m not being sarcastic with you. I am just good and angry that he is passing himself off and ex-commie.

You have more stomach than I to have listened to him even for a nanosecond.

Actually the real story is that George Soros is the largest investor in the Carlyle Group which profits from the Military Industrial Complex e.g. Iraq War, and George Soros is the largest financial backer of MoveOn.org. That puts MoveOn.org just a few degrees of separation from Iraq War blood money.

That’s the real story!

Unfortunately, you are correct. The only way today you can lose your US citizenship is to go to a US embassy in a foreign country and formally renounce it.

We should encourage as many moonbats as possible to do so.

Someone explain to me why a foreigner from a communist country gets to give money to political parties in the US in the first place.

If you are talking about Soros he is an American citizen, for our sins. And Hungary is no longer communist.

The short answer is no, he can't. What he can buy is enough influence to force the candidates to adopt public positions more in accordance with his world view than that of the electorate at large. After that he can make noise and purchase public opinion polls (and the occasional journalist or politician) and that's about it.

He won't be purchasing Hillary any more than certain German industrialists did when they thought they were purchasing Hitler, and for the same reason - the big jackboot is worn by only one foot at a time, and it won't be his.

I smell a rat in the recent onslaught of corrupt Conservative Politicians (Craig, et.al) in the news. It’s funny how most American’s are accepting that only Republicans wield a “culture of corruption”.

“Unfortunately, you are correct. The only way today you can lose your US citizenship is to go to a US embassy in a foreign country and formally renounce it.”

Interestingly enough, there is a little glitch in all this.

I can only speak for Panama since I live here and was born here (American Parents). There is no law in Panama that allows me to give up my citizenship. Once born in Panamanian territory, always a Panamanian. Since I was born here, by Panamanian law, I am also a Panamanian citizen by their laws.

John McCain was born in the Canal Zone; and by Panamanian law, he is also a Panamanian citizen although he will never admit to it. Panamanian Law has him as a Panamanian citizen whether he likes it or not. He can run for president in both countries.

Please correct me on this if I am wrong. If one gives up ones U.S. citizenship, is there not a law that person has to continue paying U.S. taxes for the next 17 years? (And no, I am not ever planning on giving up my U.S. citizenship.)

Gads.

Thank you.

Hungary may not be communist, but Soros I believe is.

The U.S. is yet not communist, but it is full of communists.

Example #1 is Hillary.

He became a U.S. citizen in 1961.

A lot like fireants. darn little positive benefit to America. Maybe his citizenship could be assisted to “expire”, sort of like the syrian poison missle was assisted to expire.

10 years.

The US is also the only country in the world that taxes income on the basis of citizenship rather than on residency (I know because I lived abroad for 13 years).

Under Kennedy.

That’s interesting.

Well, he tried hard in 2004. I’m sure he’s learned from his mistakes, and will keep trying till he gets it ‘right’.

“10 years. The US is also the only country in the world that taxes income on the basis of citizenship rather than on residency (I know because I lived abroad for 13 years).”

That’s interesting.

Thank you for the stats.

I thought I had read the US is the only country in the world that taxes income on the basis of citizenship rather than on residency, but I wasn’t sure. You have confirmed what I thought to be true. But up until now, I was afraid to open my mouth for fear of being wrong.

Talking about taxes, Panama does not tax one’s income if one is paying taxes to another country…for example to the U.S.

Thank you again.

If I were a parent of a kid who suffers from BDS, I would sue Soros for causing it.

I think his money will be on Ron Paul.

“Will George Soros Buy the Presidential Election of 2008?”

Yes, sadly, it looks like he will. :(

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I seriously doubt it. Henry Ford couldn’t sell the American public on the Edsel, in spite of a vast promotional campaign for it. As was pointed out, Soros money couldn’t even buy the Connecticut senatorial election for Ned Lamont. What makes anyone so confident he could buy his favorite candidate’s way into the White House?

To the extent Paul has a chance, it is not because Soros bankrolls him but because he has a large number of unpaid volunteers committed to promoting his election, and working together to do so. I think his chances are somewhere between “slim” and “none”; as in the Lamont case, Soros money would make no material difference, even aside from Paul being the ultimate un-Soros - - - utterly opposed to every bit of globalist baloney that warms Soros’ heart.

So, let Soros spend his money, as long as it is properly recorded and publicized. Then, we can see where it goes, and note who is readily bought, and therefore unworthy of our vote.

Apparently Soros has figured out a more effective battle plan in '06 than he had in '04 or '02, because he bought the Congress and by extension the entire Democrat party. He has them all whining and shaking in their shoes, doing his bidding, not just standing around waiting for his next handout.

Will he buy the Presidency in '08? Certainly, if he gets the right Republican nominated, since he already owns all the Democrats. How can you lose if you own both candidates?
