Flaming a poster on one thread because of an argument on another thread is in the poorest of taste, and is not welcome on FR.Huh?

Oddly enough, only the 2nd earthquake of any significance that I can ever remember NOT happening in the AM. Usually they do happen in mornings, this was the first at night...I remember 1 other that happened in an afternoon but thats it.

Everyone calls someone and the cells go down....happened in San Diego, Orange County, Malibu and Santa Clarita last week.

I'd have to liken it to a not-so-good landing on a commercial airliner.
But maybe that was just because I was sitting in my Lazyboy at the time.

My daughter-in-law just called from Modesto and said it was noticeable there, too. Their apartment swayed back and forth about four times, but nothing fell.

Heavy shaking here in Santa Cruz, long duration ( ~ 20 seconds ), amplitude increased towards end (that's when I grabbed the kid and stood in a door frame ).
Felt stronger than 5.6...a lot stronger. At least here on the coast.

Really?? Did the security cameras fall to floor and shatter, or will y’all be getting late night knocks on your doors?

I remember the Northridge aftershocks were in the 5.0 - 5.5 range. They probably didn’t do much more damage, but were definitely felt.

Felt stronger than 5.6...a lot stronger. At least here on the coast. Agreed, felt much stronger than a 5.6 - it felt like a 6.3 or greater to me (in South San Francisco on ground floor of my house). My daughter was on the phone at the time in Oakland across the bay, and said it was real mild (she's on a 4th floor apartment). Usually I stay put, but this one had me run for cover (like in 1989).

Odd that there was a discussion in the paper the other day that the Hayward rips every 140 years or so, and we're 139 years out since the last one.
It's W's fault!

Glad you’re ok!
That’s scary stuff.
My son used to live in San Jose...and he felt one then. Not
a bad one, thank goodness!
