Yep, crossing Yellowstone off of my places to visit... ;-)

If eruptions of the Yellowstone volcano are periodic, then according to scientists, it is due for an eruption sometime within the next 150,000 years. I guess that means it could be tomorrow.

I take this and the threat of a meteor strike far more seriously than I do any catastrophe-through-global-warming alarmism.

The Jemez mountains in NW New Mexico is a large volcano that’s supposed to blow some time in the next 200,000 years. That’s why we moved.

My wife was lamenting that we missed visiting Yellowstone last Sunday. The roads closed to vehicle traffic on Monday. They will stay closed until enough snow builds up to support snow vehicles (snow mobiles, "carriages" and skiers).

The ash plume from a large explosion at Yellowstone would screw up agriculture half way across the United States...the world's bread basket. My area of southeast Idaho would likely get nailed by a pyroclastic cloud. It's unlikely we could out run it even with quick access to I-15 or I-86.

From other posts I’ve seen we might survive down in Denver, but then again might not.

They speculate this rise is caused by a mass of molten rock the size of Los Angeles being forced from the Earth’s mantle into the magma chamber beneath the ancient volcano.

You've simply have to have a back up disaster in case the latest terror story(Global warming for example)isn't quite doing the job. Yellowstone is going to blow is a backup scare to comliment global warming. It isn't enough that we are going to all drown or maybe bake in a rainless desert we must face being blown to hell by yellowstone.

Want to hear the ultimate terror story? The sun will eventually go nova and completely wipe out the earth, not to mention the rest of our solar system.

This won't happen for about 4 billion years yet but we can't start getting ready too soon. I say we build enough ships to hold all the people of the earth and start loading them up and firing them off to Mars to start colonies, we can pay for it with a 100 percent income tax on the rich(anyone who makes over $1000 per year would fall in the category). Great plan huh? Just hand over all your money and all your freedom and I will save you from any and all disasters. I am the ultimate liberal, trust me!/SAR
