Annapolis Post-Mortem

The Annapolis peace summit is just days old, but already it is having an adverse impact on Israel’s security.

In agreeing to move toward a permanent status agreement with the Palestinians, Israeli negotiators have left the Jewish state between a rock and hard place. On the one hand, they must attempt to build momentum in the peace process. At the same time, they must brace for a series of terror attacks and attempts to sabotage the peace process.

In keeping with commitments made at the summit, Israel is aborting a military operation in the Gaza Strip. Meant to undermine the Hamas regime, it is now being pushed off, apparently to an unknown date, so that peace talks can begin on December 12. Israelis who were sure that after Annapolis they would be free of constraint and could act in the Gaza Strip against almost daily rocket attacks have been proven wrong. The residents of Sderot in the Western Negev, who had believed that Israeli Defense Forces ...

It appears that the Annapolis summit has been one sided in that Israel, or its leaders I should say, have agreed to a number of concessions that will adversely affect that nation's security. Instead of a road to peace, it seems to me that the summit and upcoming negotiations are a sure route to failure and an increase in violence.

I’m sadly not surprised. The last several years have been filled with concessions from Israel, sometimes at the urging of the US, that leave them vulnerable. If only one side offers and follows through on concessions, it’s hardly an equitable agreement.

Bingo!

Our leaders get off the hook for not promoting peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and Israel pays the tab.

Look at Gaza now.  That is the government that would be voted in under a Palestinian state.  Any questions Mr. President?  Condi?

Every time I hear of another peace initiative, I cringe.  Israel is about to get peaced right out of existance if some people don't come to their senses.

Olmert is a crook. Everybody in Israel knows he is crook. The man should be arrested as a real estate profiteer and thrown out of office. I would love to see that happen. Some people even think he is a rapist.

Are you talking about ElMorte, or Bill Clinton?

LOL, I’m of the same mind on ElMorte, but I hadn’t heard of the rape issue.

>>>That sure was a short meeting.<<<

Actually it was a pretty long meeting for one that only accomplished setting a date for the next meeting.

It was long on fanfare and short on Palestinian promises to stop attacking Israel.

Israel has been giving, giving, and giving. Palestinians have nothing to give, for they have squandered everything with their terrorism. USA needs to back off and not cause more trouble. Israel needs to survive. One more Palestianian state will be of no use. Jordan is the true Palestinian state with over 70% Palestinian now. USA can not even afford to take care of their own people and are in economic crisis.

Terrorism DOES work, ask the Palestinians.

Why are we even acknowledging these lunatics. They are truly defective. Hell, they were thrown out of a muslim country because of their thuggery. I believe they have evolved into a group of people that knows nothing but violence. I think that they are brain damaged. If the Israelis gave them everything and left they’d still be stagnant and vicious. It’s ingrained in them.
