Hunter to withdraw? Nope, he fools us
LA Times ^ | Jan. 7, 2008 | Don Frederick

UPDATE -- Our apologies to Duncan Hunter. He used the "major announcement" we got notice about earlier -- and assumed, wrongly, meant he would be folding his presidential tent -- to decry his exclsuion from the pair of Republican candidate debates this weekend.

"Who do they think they are?" he said of media big shots. He also noted that he won a delegate from the caucuses in Wyoming on Saturday, which puts him ahead of Rudy Giuliani in that category. And he said he would remain a candidate "no matter what happens" in New Hampshire's Tuesday primary.

All signs point to a poor showing for Hunter. But he hopes that

I like Duncan Hunter, but he needs to end his tilting at windmills and go home. Unfortunately, he never caught on with the GOP base, and his poll numbers reflect it.

Compare and contrast with Hillary’s sniveling and tell me who is ‘presidential’.

I want a Conservative President who won’t give up, even when faced with an uphill battle.

Way to go, indeed! It’s stupid for the MSM to assume that a bunch of people talking in Iowa and a little tiny state like NH should control who’s in and who’s out. What about Wyoming? Why doesn’t it get to decide? How about a runoff between Romney, Thompson, and Hunter? How about the fact it’s a NATIONAL election? Go, HUNTER! And, my favorite, GO FRED!

FRedheads, Mittwits, and Hucksters only hoped for an endorsement to give their candidate credibility where they have none.

America likes a real fighter. Old school. Maybe Hunter’s being misunderestimated?

It amazes me when people want to shove minor candidates out of a race. If they're not drawing a lot of support, they're not hurting another conservative's chances; what is wrong with them campaigning and promoting conservatism?

Maybe some people are just hateful.

That’s what they were saying about Huckleberry a month ago. It doesn’t look like Duncan will get a similar boost, but I don’t have any problem with him for trying. What else is the best conservative in the race supposed to do with his time? Bake cookies? Maybe he should cry to get attention.

Lynne Hunter, Jan. 5, 2007, “Don’t let the press pick your candidate”

Smart words from the smart lady who is Mrs. Duncan Hunter.

(Photo: David Lienemann/Associated Press)

AMES, Iowa — Mike Huckabee played bass for much of the morning with his rock-and-roll band “Capitol Offense,” taking the stage at one point with an Elvis impersonator and Lynn Hunter, the wife of his rival for
the Republican nomination, Representative Duncan Hunter, to sing Johnny B. Goode.

“Is Elvis with you Lynn?” he asked?

“I’m afraid so,” she said. “He’s voting for Hunter.”

Lots of Hunter photos:

Sometimes, you love to be wrong... thought he was out. Just shows his character. Never give up. Love it. He’s still my choice.

Hunter doesn’t drop out, he fights back!

Against what?

Why would the media, or any other business, pay him attention when he is not a substantial customer?

‘That’s what they were saying about Huckleberry a month ago.’

Doesn’t matter, a month ago the primaries hadn’t begun. Now that they have, its clear Hunter has zero chance at the nomination.

It gives me no joy in noting this. I like his view on most issues you care to name. But the base hasn’t taken to him, for whatever reason, and thats that.

If your in single digits at this point, you don’t have a chance of winning the nomination. Given there is only so much time per debate, including people who have no chance is a waste of time.

The Dems do that with the Sharpton’s of the world, for the oh so very obvious reason. Personally, I’m surprised Hunter wants to be given that same kind of treatment.

He’s a better man than that, in my view.

The base hasn’t had a chance to see him or vote yet.

That’s the way the PTB want it.
