The original link couldn't be used. So I found an alternate. I am at a loss for words and my first thought is to homeschool the boy/girl.

I don't think it is possible for 5-to-8 year-olds to "realize their true gender identity". They are still realizing their child-parent identity. Their minds are still not fully formed and children of this age may not realize that some things are fixed, and others are changeable. They are still playing.

I myself when I was 5 or 6 told my parents that when I grow up, I want to be a bear. I didn't have the rational understanding that I cannot become a bear. Why not? They do it on cartoons all the time. In short, I didn't understand a lot of fundamental things at that age. I was in an age where anything is possible to imagine.

If a boy is raised with girls and plays with girls, or if maybe he had a bad experience with bullies, he might well think it could be better to be a girl. But he doesn't have the mental concept of things yet. This is where parents and teachers should come in and gently explain the situation.

You can like girls, and bears. But you really can't become one. Now, how about some more Ovaltine?

I am stunned. Thinking about a second grader who makes a decision with their parents support. I can’t imagine explaining this to my children why “Johnny” is now “Jenny.”

Boy wants to return to school as a girl

That is weird. Since when do little boys want to return to school?

Sad truth is that Highlands Ranch is home to the new Denver yuppie liberals. Come though, 2nd grader dreamed this all up on his own?

Pearson says children as young as 5 years old are realizing their true gender identity being indoctrinated by her group into adopting perversion and her group wants to help parents who may be resisting the acceptance of this.

There. Fixed it.

Kids this young imagine all sorts of silly things. When I was five, I wanted to be a superhero, or a unicorn -- or a fireman. I also told my parents that I wanted to be a boy and asked that I be called "Jimmy".

Thank goodness they didn't take that flight of fancy any more seriously than the other ones, or I would be one seriously messed up kid, instead of a happy wife and mother of two!

From the article:

"Kim Pearson says the family is getting support. She is the executive director of a national organization called TransYouth Family Advocates. The group has been working with the family and Douglas County Schools."

I guess there's an organization for everything.

The decay continues. I think it is time for this kid to be removed from its parents “care”.

Methinks the parents are just as messed up as this boy.

You make excellent points. I was the oldest child, a girl, and I had two younger brothers. My parents and us kids had many conversations when we were little about how one day my brothers would both be bigger and taller than me, but they would never be older than me. We just couldn’t understand that at all.

These parents are doing a serious disservice to their child.

My first thought would be just the opposite. The kid is messed up, but it sounds like the parents are enablers. The child should be removed from the household and placed somewhere that he'll have a chance at a normal upbringing.

The child might still turn out bad, but at least he'd have a chance.

Thank God they didn't have the Trans Youth Family Advocates back then, "Jimmy". What, your parents didn't accommodate your true gender identity?

Sure, and tomorrow he’ll want to wear a Superman cape. A second grader has no concept of what a transgender is. On the other hand his parents certainly do and I totally believe they are the ones pushing this. I also question if he has a mom and dad at home or another case of two mommys.

I think a good DA could make a case for reckless endangerment or some other form of child abuse. How can they justify this type of behavior? Will they be allowed to sacrifice this child to their selfish agenda?

I'm afraid if they go ahead with this, and the poor kid goes around elementary and middle school dressed as a girl, he will be seriously messed up.

You know how mean middle school girls can be to other girls. What will they do to an imitation girl? And would middle school boys hang out with her? No way!

They are preparing a future suicide case. It would be far better to straighten him out now. He will go through much less trauma learning to like being a boy than he will as a drag tween.
