Texas polygamists may recant, officials say

PHOENIX - Polygamist sect members who were moved to a Texas compound from their longtime homes along the Utah-Arizona line were hand-picked for their fierce loyalty to leader Warren Jeffs, and that allegiance may be a stumbling block for law enforcement, authorities say.

Jeffs, the imprisoned leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, transferred people to Eldorado, Texas, to escape growing government scrutiny on the sect's base in Colorado City, Ariz., and Hildale, Utah, Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard said.

"This was Warren Jeffs' all-star cast," said Goddard, who has been investigating the sect since 2004. "They had the strongest sense of obedience."

From the Article :"All these girls are taught from the cradle not to trust anybody . . . Especially the government. We're the beast. We're the devil."

Unfortunately, in some notable cases, this is wise advice. Absolutely the only thing about this sordid mess I can understand and, to some extent, agree with. Waco, Ruby Ridge, War on Drugs, Corruption at virtually all levels. In many ways the Gov't in it's present bloated and over-reaching incarnation is more of a problem.

That is your statement on this event that you support the child raping perverts?

"That is your statement on this event that you support the child raping perverts?"

I knew there would be at least one. Did I say that? Read my statement very clearly and then tell me where you come up with this ridiculous comment. Please be specific.

My advice - Think before you post and feel the need to knee-jerk attack.

This is the man that is still their spiritual guru/prophet, he is sitting in prison, Texas had already passed special legislation in 2005 to deal with this international cult, this group has a long history with law enforcement.

In fact some western states have worked together to come up with a strategy to start going after the leaders for promoting rape.

“Warren Jeffs, the sect’s prophet and spiritual leader at its longtime headquarters in the dusty, side-by-side towns of Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Ariz., was charged in 2005 and 2006 with forcing underage girls into marriages. He was convicted in September in Utah of being an accomplice to rape and is serving up to life in prison."

You could replace every instance of the word government in that statement with any other man made institution and have just as valid a statement.

So you have no problem with forcing 12 year old girls into marriages with 50 year old men. It’s pretty easy to establish with DNA tests proving the paternity and maternity of the children. From the current ages of the children and mothers, it should be pretty simple to calculate the age of the mothers at the time they conceived their children. Furthermore since it appears the FLDS is transporting females across state lines for the purpose of “marrying” them to older men in the church who then have sex with them, that there is a violation of the Mann Act.

Again, where does anything I say support your previous statement and accusation?

What you post here goes without saying. The only problem is it doesn’t address my question to you.

The system again is coming down on this rape cult and you post your agreement with the cult, that they are wise in their advice and that the wrong is that the cult is being interfered with by the state.

Why do you post under multiple names?

Waco and Ruby Ridge and Elian Gonzalez are far far different cases from this evil bunch of lunatics.

Every single one of these men and the women who acquiesced should face major prison time.

At least Jim Jones and the temple had the decency to take themselves away and self destroy.

Learn how to read. I said “the only thing about this sordid mess I can understand”.

Nowhere did I indicate ANY agreement with the crimes here. I did say that I could understand distrust of the Gov’t and I stand by that statement.

Save yourself the effort of a reply.

When someone posts about a child raping cult currently in the midst of a state intervention and their anchor statement on it, is that law enforcement doing the bust is the threat, then that is a defense of the crimes that were in process when the raid took place.

Seriously, why do you use multiple poster names?

You just changed your home page, minutes ago it said that you also post as TCats and I think DRT.

What is going on?

Government has always been the problem. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights were supposed to have reined in government and preserve liberty. But the reins have been broken and no one remembers them any more.

Being 13 year old and being raped with some regularity (See: Married in the Spirit) is, to that little girl, much more of a problem than anything else you've named.

Do your neighbors understand what you think is appropriate behavior for grown men with 13 year old girls?

Essentially, yes. I read you comment very carefully and arrived at the same conclusion.

You certainly took the effort to deflect the attention from where it rightfully belongs to vilify everyone else who speaks out against it and is trying to do something to protect those poor children, trapped in there.

That cults activity is illegal and immoral on many levels.

Why aren't you condemning it instead of condemning those who are trying to do something about it?

Thanks for posting the article. Followup info is helpful to all.

“This was Warren Jeffs’ all-star cast,”

I got TCats correct but I think that I got DRT wrong, you took down your home page so quickly.

Tell us what that third name is so that we can know who we are talking to, as it is we can’t check your posting history before you took on this new persona in February.
