Earlier this month UNESCO awarded a five-year grant to Sintubin and his colleagues Niemi; Iain Stewart, geologist at University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom; and Erhan Altunel, geologist at the Eskisehir Osmangazi University in Turkey, to support archaeoseismology by broadening the fields primary focus from the Near East to include the Far East.
Helloooooooo !!!! That grant runs until 2013. According to St. Malachy, the world is going to end in 2012. This money would be better used to pay for $4000 prostitutes.

Sounds like a grant grabbing idea. Simply project the present into the past, fill in gaps with speculation, suggest a possible scenario, and accept the whole sub-prime theory as fact. A nice name like AQF helps too.
The money line is that they want to create a new scientific discipline. As the founders and experts of this new discipline well funded employment should be guaranteed for years. No wonder others are cautious.

More work on the New Madrid fault systems in our own midwest would be very useful. They are currently experiencing guakes and aftershocks, or are these all foreshocks for something much bigger?
