Yes, but Visayan Catholic peasants continue to settle in Mindanao, long since vastly outnumbering the Muslims. Towns and villages that were once all-Muslim are now mixed or majority Christian. You will now find Christian majorities in towns even in Jolo and Basilan.
It can be done, all one needs is a vigorous and fertile Christian population. It is no accident that the Philippines is the most devoutly Catholic country on Earth.
