No... I dont think God was stupid enough just to create on planet that can contain life among billions upon billions of starts... Or, as they say in one of my favorite movies, if we are alone, it sure is a huge waste of space.

I thought it would take them 15 minutes to get any feedback so I wasn’t expecting to hear a confirmation on that for another ten minutes or so, but they just confirmed it. :0 How’d they do that?

NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander is targeted to land in a flat valley in the arctic plains of Mars, at the center of the blue ellipse shown here. It is most likely to touch down at the very center, and least likely to land at the ellipse's edges. The ellipse is approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) long and 20 kilometers (12 miles) wide. The black pock-looking mark above and to the left of the center of the ellipse is a small pile of rocks, informally referred to as "The Hill," which is less than a few meters (less than 10 feet) tall and more than one kilometer (about one mile) in diameter. The circular indentation outside and to the right of the ellipse is an impact crater dubbed "Heimdall," after the Norse mythological watchman, or protector, of gods. The map shown here is made up of topography data taken by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor. It shows exaggerated differences in the height of the terrain.

I'm really ready to give up cable.
Just give up on Faux News Channel - their coverage in general panders to the lowest common denominator and they try to create drama where there is none or try to only focus on the sensationlistic aspects. Most of us here are definitely not their target demographic.

Yup. All of the work on Mars and the Moon, hopefully when we start sending people to both, it will ignite some of the passion we once had - once upon a time we were a nation of pioneers. Nowadays we are simply settlers, settling for anything.
To: KevinDavis
Is there a reason these mars landings always take place on holidays?

The Science Channel on cable TV is also carrying live coverage of the Mars landing.
